Hi guys been compensating a stage 2 remap by MRC
Just wandering if anyone recommends this doing and the experience of your own cars?
Can u tell the difference with the 70 -90 horsepower increase
Also what torque figures will I be looking at and will it put more strain on the gearbox etc
Cheers peeps!

Admitedly I'm and RS4 owner, but the map is great. It's transformed the car and coupled with a carbon clean, has added much more responsiveness and power. The linear throttle mapping aspect is good too.
You can tell a big difference. Here's my before and after dyne sheets. Admittedly with a bespoke exhaust (no pre-cats and bespoke system). For what it's worth:

There's no way it'll put any strain on the box or drive train. In my case the RS4 was supposedly new at 414bhp./420PS, so considering we are achieving only 20bhp more than that 7 years on with map and clean, it's well within the scope and capabilities of OEM drivetrain. The same I'm sure for other RS's
Audi always over engineer parts and are usually over cautious. That's why we can run a charger on OEM internals and drivetrain...

It all depends on the state of your current engine/tranny at the end of the day and the supporting mods. For a stage 2, I don't think any of us have had identical results and I am right up there on the limits of torque on my box, but it keeps on going.
If it hasn't been mapped already after decatting, as long as things hold up, it is well worth it.

Mines already decated with miltek and got quoted 750 for remap which I think is a good price will get health checked to see if it's up for the job

Unfortunately , an RS6 already suffers from drive train ( box) not really being up to the job in OE 444bhp form, so stage 2 @extra 75+bhp ,
WILL put more strain on it.
Sadly Audi didn't over engineer the auto box in C5 6's

I will retreat to my RS4 corner!

One would assume that it is the heftier increase in torque that strains the box more than HP, unless I need to go back to my "Mechanics for Mongs" evening class?
Rickster, the Health check is including in the MRC remap cost.

Nah, horsepower will do it too. That said, a typical car will spend more time in peak twist than peak horsies...

Exactly.

hi all , mines got a stage 1 from mrc , to go to a stage 2 with gutted precats seems like a waste
of money for 20 hp and more torque if its going to kill the gear box? as anyone noticed the difference
as im thinking about doing also

You can always ask for a conservative map with regards to torque figures, but there isn't that much difference in tq anyway as peak torque is made at lower rpms where the precats are not as big a deal. Meanwhile a stage 1 is running higher EGT because the precats are choking it. Especially when tuned, the turbos & manis are a lot happier without any precats.

The gearbox life survey showed that there wasn't much correlation if any between modified cars and a higher incidence of gearbox failure. Granted it was only a tinternet survey, but still a bit of an eye opener.

The most common cause of eventual failure is still that stupid seal in the TC. That's why there is likely only a weak correlation between tuning and gearbox failures. That seal screws up most boxes before they have a chance to succumb to increased clutchpack wear.

Go stage 2, mine had a old map on when I got it and after some new parts including a ace tc it's been stage 2 MRC mapped. Also get the gearbox map in the package so 30mph 5th changes.
No point worrying about the box, if it's not been refurbished or replaced before it no doubt will unfortunately so get the map done and enjoy it while you can.

Booked in for stage 2 remap

Can't wait
With the remap do you think it will be able to hit the 200mph barrier
Obviously on a air strip of course
