Soooo.... How much is my car worth with a broken gearbox???

So my rs6 has the dreaded gearbox slip/clunk/bang syndrome and needs sorting,
and tbh ive sort of had enough and basically am struggling with it finacially as moving house is my priority right now.
so the big question is how much is my car worth as it is with the gearbox fault, its high mileage very high at 220,000, its in surprisingly good condition and has fsh and runs perfect, its a real shame and as much as this car has broken my heart at times i still have a fondness for it!
The other problem is whether its even worth spending the £3500 plus to get it fixed as with it having such high mileage?
Has anybody taken the box out themselves and had it repaired therefore saving money on the labour removing and refitting the engine and box???
Thanks
Mark

It's worthless except for scrap (parts/breaking) value

It would have to be silly cheap with those miles and a broken box 2-3k I rekon. Even with the gearbox fixed with such high miles itll be a bugger to shift. Might be a basket case see how much webuyanycar offer and if its more than 3k bit their arm off or if you want to replace it see if you can get a halfway decent px on it

if it was properly maintained and all issues addressed in time i would keep it, selling it for 2k just seems so unreasonable especially since you say you're really fond of it. Get a new gearbox and you'll get another 100k out of it, the engine will certainly last. Is this the first gearbox? what about the turbos and other components?
I didn't notice any differences on how the engine sounds and runs between a car with 65k on the clock, as my first RS6 had, and my second one which is 140k, i am sure these engines can easily go 300-400k miles with no issues.

personally I wouldn't sell the car, save up and sort the box and don't even think about ringing "webuyanycar"

2003 rs6 80k full working condition... offered £5k
your car with the broken box you will be lucky to see the thick end of £1k from them.

WBAC probably won't check gearbox. If you can drive it there you may be OK.

Thats what I was thinking they normally just do a walk round and check things like tyres and bodywork will it not pass an MOT??
