Finally got round to my DIY jobs

Post by Big Aln RS6 » Sun Jan 19, 2014 5:12 pm

Been putting it off for too long but the alternator deciding to pop it's clogs got me started.

Refurbed the leaking intercoolers and fitted nice new silicone hoses, finally replaced the 2 pain in the arse front parking sensors, 2 x new drop links, new alternator & belt, fixed the headlight water jets and blackened the silver headlight strips.

The alternator was the part I dreaded the most but it but it turned out to be pretty easy. It was the bloody intercoolers that mad me curse the most. Easy to come out but a B@5tard to refit with the fiddly little rubber locating rings and the new big silicone hoses not wanting to play.

Wee 7 hour shift and it's as right as rain :jump_clap:

Didn't mind a Bit Amanda. Missed working on my car, I've always done all my own work so that way I am confident what has been done and done properly.

It feels like a new car with the intercooler's leaks now sorted or maybe that's just because I was driving a mapped Megane Sport for a fortnight

I added a freeview box a while back. To be fair I've used it twice since.

I've hardly even driven my beloved that much due to working away lots.

Just makes it all the sweeter when I sit back behind the wheel, still love my RS6, nowhere near bored of it yet!

What was the quality of the under tray like? There was a post awhile ago saying they were of a poor quality these days. I could do with a new one but might get the fibreglass out.

The quality of the OE one is pretty good and hard wearing.

Mine has a few little imperfections from previous owners but none that bad that bother me enough to replace it.

If yours just has little splits etc, then I'd just repair it and save your £'s for proper mods

Mine has a couple of cracks / splits but is still in one piece. I'm just going to patch it up with fibreglass for now if it ever stops raining (9 weeks now :( )
