Another (slightly poorer) newbie

Hi all! I have been lurking for a while but it's about time I introduced myself, this is my first Audi and one I have always wanted, did as much research as possible, (big shout out to the forum for that!) and bought myself a very tidy dark blue 2003 saloon back in September 13,mileage was high but this made it affordable,it was also backed up with full service history, gearbox rebuilt and cam belt done, but was sold to me as standard, turns out it's not at all!
Hispec 4 pot rear calipers with same size discs as the front
Updated intercooler
Decat pipes
kW coil overs
S5 alloys
Remapped to 486bhp

Anyway it is a real animal on the road as all of you are aware but it's had its problems, thankfully most of them are down to the upgrades!
The one thing that really bugged me was the auto box, never been a fan but this one is not graceful in its changes and can be quite jumpy, after a month or so I put it up for sale as it frankly pissed me off!
Thankfully it never sold as I have had a change of heart(or addiction to the power!) and have decided to finish what I started and bring this car back to how it should be.
Popped into MRC Tuning on Saturday just gone and the good news is that it is broken lol! The gearbox was not mapped along with the ecu and the timing is slightly out, so stage 2 map will be getting done now!
Sorry for the long story but I'm not sure any owner if these has one lol!

Gary

That's a poor effort by anyone's standard and you've got a Miltek by the looks of it too.

Anyway, welcome along.

FON.

The gearbox should be lovely and smooth if it's working right.

welcome along Gary, I've just picked my car up from MRC on Friday after a stage 2 remap, I think I saw yours sitting in the yard (or the same blue, and same alloys anyway)... it looked nice...

Think that was the owners rs6, look better than mine but plan on a few tweaks, what's the stage 2 feel like?

OK, I'll say it.
I think the box is on the way out, I don't think a remap will help.
Symptoms include clunky changes, thumping in to lower gear when slowing down and going in to limp mode. All symptoms worse when ambient temperature or engine temperature is low.
Hope it's not that , but prepare for the worst.

Really hope this is not the case but must admit it's been on my mind, was only rebuilt last year but you never really know how well!
