came out of work tonight to see a large puddle of fluid under the nearside front wheel. At first glance, judging by the colour i thought it was anti-freeze but feeling it felt like a light oil. ATF? I pulled the undertray off but couldn't see where it was coming from other than there was quite a pool of it collected in the nearside of the under tray. I dipped the engine oil - all okay and checked the coolant and that was all okay.

I've left the car where it is until I can find someone to look at it and then I'll get Green Flag to flat bed it there.

Having taken the undertray off I did also notice a small weep of oil from one of the two braided steel pipes on the drivers side. I'll get that looked at too.

Sounds like the cooler lines for the ATF or the engine oil (both goto same radiator)... My oil to cooler line went about 6 months ago and it was an UTTER PIG OF A JOB to do.

Pay someone to make it better. Money well spent and all that....

Generally, ATF (or any gearbox oil) stinks. Don't get it on your overalls as it'll take a lot of washes to get out!

As above, sounds like oil lines have failed. Best to figure in the price of a cooler too as the lines corrode onto them If taking it to a garage, ask them to attack the pipe unions with a dremmel before trying to undo them! Sounds silly but remind them to top the atf up too.

i have the same problem at the moment, oil cooler line has just started weeping

well it seems oil, atf and coolant are all leaking. Very surprised at coolant as it was brand new (audi part) couple of years ago. Parts being priced and I'll know later this morning the final damage. I'm guessing £1,000-1,500?

Oh and the horn's not working.

Leaking from where? There's no one place where all those fluids come together.

rad and coolers. I was way off with estimate. £1800 parts £400 labour + VAT

Must be Audi prices. Main radiator? Unusual.

it's in A for Audi in Glasgow. Not an Audi dealer but they use (only) Audi parts. Really annoyed about the radiator (£740?) as this is the second one it will have had in the past 4 years in my ownership. The rest of the cost is the coolers and the pipework - oh and a service too.

Bad news, indeed. What are you doing to get through so many radiators?!

I wish i knew. Sometimes I wonder what damage all those potholes I crash through does - apart from wheels and suspension components.

A for Audi mentioned they've another RS6 in just now with a much bigger bill than mine. Belongs to a young lad struggling to pay for all the repairs - no one on here? I haven't updated my costs spreadsheet recently but I dread to think what the total must show.
