Thinking about getting c5

Thinking about getting a c5 saloon, sorry no avants as just prefer the shape. Would love a modded c6 but just can't afford at present so this is the ideal stepping stone. How would a c5 510-540bhp compair to a standard c6 out of interest?
It would have to be well specced and moded by respected tuner. I'm aware of running costs and the main issues with them, having had k04'd b5 and a Evo integrale. I'm currently potering around in a c6 3.0tdi le mans but want some audi power back in the house:-)

Is there no way that you can continue to save for the modded C6? As much as I love my beast every time I turn the key and fly past/around everything on the road, a modded C6 saloon would be that much nicer imo. I just keep buying more cars though instead of putting it all towards one total monster

.

Stop talking everyone out of a C5. If you want a C6 get one.

Seriously Shopp? Between the potential DRC failures and chocolate gearboxes (mine is getting increasingly more erratic now), the hugely updated interior on the C6, the so far much better gearbox on the C6, the engine capable of silly amounts of power, I could go on.
Yes the C6 avant is about as boring to look as they come but a mildly modded saloon looks very nice IMO. I know people say they are prepared for the running costs on the C5 but how many of them have been moaning about that recently and either selling up or repeatedly threatened to.....

Just to add, one or two of the more recent owners I have come across have been a bit too Barryboy for my tastes

. Always happens when prices drop or bad examples become cheap enough to get snatched up. Snob? Me? Yes a tad.

Sorry, you were starting to sound a bit like Golfather, there. Have you actually driven a C6?
+1 on the chavronauts. But, like you say, that's inevitable. The RS6 has resisted them surprisingly well. You should see the M3 forums...

Not driven one yet but got to go in one a couple of weeks ago.
Surely the M3 forums have got to be pretty upper class compared to the heavily Barrytastic Scooby forums, they love me over there not after I may have said that people driving stickered up scoobs must get more underage poontang than they can shake a stick at. I have sold all the chavved up parts I have taken off the current one three times over. I have a guy coming down from Leicester for the stupidly too wide gold wheels and stretched tyres.

On the bases I'll be keeping my c6 as the everyday family runner that's already have most of the toys needed. She'll inherit that so I get the fun car again, had considered a c6 s6 but know it'll never be what I really want. Twin turbo torque monster.

I have to say i don't like the C6 shape very dull fantastic car even though it does feel big and heavy with a heavy front end. I would rather spend more keeping my C5 Avant on the road. It may still be a big car but it doesn't feel big when driving and i love the flare on the arches a proper RS !!!! You are talking quite a difference in price Good C5 £15K C6 £30K

"Sorted" C5 RS6 12-15k
Decent C6 RS6 33-38k
For what? A better interior?
C5 owners should buy a C6 and stop their constant bitching.

Good time to be going off the forum for a week I think.
Basically my opinion is, you want a C6, buy one. You want a C5, buy one. I love mine at the moment and hope to never fall out of love with it. For me a C6 has never be a want of mine, yes they are mega fast cars and the loon isn't actually that bad a looking motor, but just not for me.
Suck my balls people.

Obviously not, or you'd go out and buy a 2.0 TDI.
Try this:
Better engine, gearbox, performance, reliability, seats, brakes, suspension, tech, quality, audio, much rarer. I could go on.
It cost me an extra £22,000 to change up and plenty of people have spent that on their C5 in modding/repairs. I was on £17k on mine when I last added it all up and nothing major went wrong, that's the point Footers was trying to make, as I believe he has spent £20k plus modding/maintaing his C5, money he won't see back.
The C5 sounds so much better, I miss the noise, and agree it has some magic that the C6 never will. Would love to have my C5 back for the weekend.

If I had the money I'd be straight into a c6 rs but I don't at this moment and I can't see a c6 s6 ticking enough boxes. I'll keep my eyes out for the right modded c5 so the modifications costs are already mostly outlayed. Then it'll be a case of up keeping the beast
