160,000 Mile RS6

Post by mudplugger » Mon Jun 17, 2013 3:14 pm

I have had my 2006 RS6 since it had 15,000 miles on it. At 40,000 AMD fitted a proper Miltec exhaust, cats, and remapped the engine managment and gearbox so it gave 530bhp. since then I have regulalry maintained it, aways use Mobil 1 oil and it is having its 160,000 mile service next week.
At 100,000 the audi dealer told me the gearbox would probably need replacing then the turbos- they are still original. I do use it but sensibly, but quickly, as I belive if you look after machinery it pays off. Is there anyone out there with higher mileage on original components?

Happy old RS6.

I think DavePerc had his approaching 140 or 160 (I cannot remember) before he drove it into a flooded road.
Mine is on 126,000 but it is heavily modified.

Oh, FON.

My old one "died" at 135K as a result of water in the engine.... :(

Have done 25K in the new one since then so I would be right up there with you - still, great to know I have at least another 50K to go before I have to start worrying!!

great to see the old lady can handle such a high mileage on original components :), it is indeed refreshing to see these kind of posts, gives us hope, though i think there's very few of us which haven't had any issues with the original parts, mainly gearbox and DRC...

why did the Audi dealer tell you that the gearbox and turbos would have to be replaced?

@dave - i presume the old one is the one facing the fence?

Great to see some decent mileage on original components - Nice one.
With reference to the car being a 2006, I assume this is an error ?? Unless it just wasn't registered for a good while after it was built ..

I am convinced that whilst the gearbox issue is undoubtedly real, we generally only hear about when it goes wrong, not the hundreds of owners generally not on forums who have no issues. I firmly believe that well maintained cars, RS6 included, will run for a very long time on original components, so I love to read posts like this.
