what RNSE
what RNSE
Ive hunted high and low for info on this but cant find any solid answer.
im going to install an RNSE, but looking through this site, and others, im unsure if the newer ones from 2010+ will work or not?
Most were plug and play with the wiring loom connector but what year was that up until?
any advice appreciated.
thanks
Allan

Re: what RNSE
They will work, but they won't get the speed info from the car's CAN bus ('cos it's not sending it) so the GPS will be lost in tunnels and will take a while to find itself when you first turn it on. Probably worth it though, for the extra speed and functions.

Re: what RNSE
So have our cars currently not got a gala wire then Shop?
I used to own a 6, now I'm just a lurker!
Re: what RNSE
thanks for the info Shop,
what does the 2010+ model have that the pre 2010 doesnt? does it have built in BT?
again is it a straight swap with the kufatec adapter?

Re: what RNSE
No, we've got a GALA wire, but the 2010+ units don't use GALA, they use speed information from the CAN network which the C5 doesn't send - at least not in a format it can use.
You have to make sure it's not coded for A3. I think A4 is the preferred choice for coding. I don't know what the features are. It's just generally better, I believe - faster processor, can read SDHC memory cards. Don't know if there's anything else.

Plus better screen, better looking 3D maps, 7 digit post code and the ability to add the Audi AMI which can control an iPod remotely.Shoppinit wrote:faster processor, can read SDHC memory cards. Don't know if there's anything else.

Afraid so! You'd think they could manage it on the later version but they didn't for some strange reason.jordan wrote:Really? That sucks!MikeFish wrote: No 7 digit postcodes! Same as the old one (4 digit).
Re: what RNSE
So if I bought a brand new R8 today it would still only do 4 digits?
How can Audi think that's acceptable?

Re: what RNSE
I guess you could use the 4 digits to get directions to the general area, then because you get there SO FAST you would have plenty of time spare to hunt round for the exact place where you're supposed to be.
Not to bad I guess
