Engine cutout won't restart

Tonight on my way home from work My RS6 cutout & won't restart

Engine turns over - probably a bit faster than normal but just will not start - after a while of cranking Engine oil level warning comes up.

Was thinking fuel related - pump / relay maybe as turning faster than normal.

Did you stop a bit suddenly or hit a big bump? I assume these audi have fuel cut off valves which turn cut off the fuel supply electronically?
All my old cars used to have them hidden in the car and would need resetting before the car would start again. Obviously if you stop a bit to sharpish it should activate it but you never know. Always handy to know where they are on your car.

Ok, a little delving online and it seems that on audis with airbags the fuel cut off will only kick in when the airbag is deployed so I don't think that is your problem.

Don't like the fact that the Engine turns over faster than normal. That could be the sign of a Failed Timing Belt. Hope not as that could be catastrophic.................

I've heard loads of engines turn faster than normal over the years and never anything serious so wouldn't let that bit worry you.

Since it was changed only 8K ago, then the Cam belt shouldn't be an issue, but you never know. Hope it turns out to be something simple such as a fuel pump or an ECU. To really find out you will have to VAG it with a Ross Tech and see what Fault Codes you come up with.......

Is the immobiliser light flashing? Can't remember if it cuts the fuel or start out.
What fuel did you put it?
Wait for Shopp to wake up.

Ooooooo, another thought. How about checking the wiring under the scuttle cover. Had a car on here last week that lost power due to the wiring being corroded, perhaps you have a fault there with a particular wire?

Could be lots of things. You need to get a Vagcom / obd2 diagnostics on it.

Crank position sensor seems to be a common one.
