Now that I have some new fogs that lack the cataracts of the old ones has anyone done anything to boost the foglight power?
Are they H3s right?

Was just going to say I have never used the fogs but I did actually have to turn them on coming up to Scotland. Never thought of needing to upgrade them, main beams are the ones that needed doing.

I have a set of headlights that have some 55W HIDs for the main beam and they are stupendously bright. The clear plastic of the new ones makes such a difference that I am going to get some Meguiars PlastX for the waffs car.
Edited to make more sense

Should just be ok, wiring should be ok too. Do you have much fog round by you then?
I looked at some of these for my main beam but they are for off road only and would fail mot.

The H7 ones are only 65W but 2100 lumens (cf 1500 for standards) and that won't be picked up. They would need to extract the bulb to check I think.
It is just that they are so useless. Have been using them a lot with the mega rain and spray.

I was looking at them again tonight after refitting the LED sidelights, I think I might try the osram hypercool that claim to be 5000k

Actually, the Osram Cool blue Intense are 4200K which will be less "Fast and the Furious"

Isn't true white at 6k? That's what I've always gone for. Maybe it's my old age, but they don't seem to hurt my eyes as much when night driving.

compared to the headlights they look like back to the 80's lights...
reminds me of my first car, red Renault 19 16v, wich had yellow head- and foglights...

There are only really 4 colours of HID available, despite the claim of sellers and manufacturers to the contrary. These are Standard factory 4300K (yellowish white), 5000K crystal white with no blue tint, 6000 crisp white light with delicate to moderate blue tint, and 8000K strong blue light. The highest light output is 4300K and the lowest 8000K.
