In August thinking of selling the Rs6 and have around 40K to spend, what can i get for that money, i want the same performance as the 6, i quite like the Austin Martin DB9, i dont like the V10 RS6 want something with a V8 in, i also want the noise aswell, i like the R8 , is there anything else out there?

I would go for the Aston Martin, no doubt. The DB9 will give you a big V12, lots of grunt. V8 Vantage 4.7 if you want something a bit sportier. £40 will get you an OK DB9 or a more recent Vantage. Both are fairly bullet proof.

Don't think you'll find a decent R8 for that money. Not sure though, don't like them much so I don't follow the prices.

How about an RS3? Superb sounding and wicked fun.

Looking at alternatives myself and having vowed to myself and "er indoors" never to take the hit on depreciation again after my 2 dices with insanity(RRS SC and Pepper turbo s) I`m narrowing things down to either a nearly new c7 rs6, 997 turbo s + subaru legacy estate or gtr + subaru legacy estate.

Ive realised that real nascar noise is only really possible with normally aspirated engines so youre looking at the r8 v10 from audis stable unless you want a c7 s6

I've just traded my R8 for a 2010 4.7 Maserati Granturismo S. I'm loving it and oooh what a noise, I thought the R8 with its Milltek sounded nice but these things are in a different league.There is more room in the back than in a DB9, lower running costs and they are more reliable from what I can gather.Ive not had a chance for a proper blast in it yet due to the crap weather, but it's certainly no slouch.

If you can wait a while it probably won't be long before the new m5s dip below 40k I saw one the other day they look like monsters, plus you get all the v8 soundtrack you like as its piped in through the sound system!

Do the fumes come free of charge?

Maserati and reliable i dont think so, thats the only thing putting me off, but i love the noise and shape of them, i seen a video of them making the R8 was very impressed of how they made it, also love the Vantage and DB9, with me its all about how quick you get away from the lights with no hassle of wheel spin, im 55 but still want to race everything in sight, its got to be sub 5 sec to 60
