Anything else it downshifts to 4th and hangs onto 4th until 160ish and puts up a real fight about dropping in to 5th.

can you see why I don't like the box!
To be fair, this is because your car is remapped and the TCU hasn't been modified to suit. Standard cars don't do this.
Bingo - mine does this too! Doug said it was most likely a moody engine map. Stage 2 required methinks

Any MRC remap on the RS6 includes the TCU remap too, stage one/two or three. I'm sure the Viper one will too. Even the guy that tuned my BMW knew that, he told me that he could do the RS6 but it would take him a little longer as he would have to do the TCU too, only £350 though... But he deals with Beemers and knew that. Anyone that remaps an engine ECU on an RS6 and doesn't do the TCU, probably doesn't know much about remapping/tuning to be honest.

'cough' not according to their website at least, it is optional on stage 1 ;)

Stage 1 Engine map 480-500bhp

Our stage 1 map is the first step to a better performing engine this includes a gearbox map to allow for the increase in power.

From £550+ vat

Stage 1 'plus' map 480-500bhp

Similar to our stage 1 map but with a few more engine tweeks for maximum smoothness and performance however the real benefit of the plus map is the gearbox map. We have modified the shift patterns and rev limit to allow the tiptronic user greater control over their car for performance driving and economy. Hold 5th gear at approx 30mph/950rpm for maximum fuel economy!

From £650+vat

I've seen that too, Footlong, but I'm sure it's wrong. I've been researching for a while about the best remap to go for, and came across a comment from Mihnea on SRS where he says that any remap on a tip car needs the TCU doing too, and Dunc has the TCU mod on stage one as did another stage one RS6 I was looking to buy before settling for mine...

Cheers Bam!

I stupidly handed over £450 at a gti international to get my old car done, never did notice much difference.

Live and learn eh!

When I had my car dyno'd, Mihnea showed me the plots of cars that had had spurious maps / chips before he sorted them. Some of them made as low as 360hp. You really have to know what you're doing with these engines.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Swannny, if you had the body, power and presence of the RS6, would you wear your suit off-the-peg?
