no comparison in performance (ive had 3 of each) ... 100bhp is not insignificant
£8k .... more like £10k for a 'good' one ... there are quite a few poverty spec S4's vs. a fully loaded RS
lots of common faults with the S4, espcially at 7yrs old now ... starter motor, ignition coils, aux rads, etc etc
MPG is shocking

thing is, when I sold my 1st RS 6 and got my 1st S4, I said the complete opposite .... but the fact im back in an RS 6 says it all
Anyone had a trouble-free RS6 experience?!

On the flip side of all this I bought my plus in May and have since put 10k trouble free miles on it!! It's still running DRC which was admittedly replaced about 18 mths ago but even this is still working well.
It sailed through an MOT (free at Audi) and a health check at MRC with no probs. The only costs so far have been petrol and I'd rather not think about that!!

Sailed through the MOT yesterday - YES! - Not even a glimpse of a problem.
MOT tester really went looking for something, anything,but nothing! Of course he needed the obligatory test drive, went with him of course.
7 years old, 75,000 on the clock, still running on DRC-these cars are built well and if looked after, fingers crossed, so far mine's not let me down.
costs during my last year and 20,000 miles.
2 x services at QST
1 set of VREDS
1 wheel bearing
2 x CV gaters.
Fuel - Who cares!!! - as mooch has always said this is never a cost we should talk about

DRC and suspension arms have been my only problems so far.
The main running costs have been tyres, fuel, servicing, cam belt, discs, pads but you have to do that with every car.
(Add 2 gearbox services as a preventative measure)
The only extras I have changed are dvs and n75s and am looking to change the intercoolers soon.
I have binned the DRC but mine was on original right up to 75k miles.
I have added hoki arbs but that is choice.
These cars are very dear to run but as are all cars in this bracket.
The only 2 main issues are with DRC and the gearbox. I have binned the DRC and look after the gearbox very well and that includes driving style which is a massive factor and not trying to put more torque through the box.

Couldn't agree more. And I couldn't be happier with mine. Other than suspension, I've never had any trouble with it other than tiny things that you would expect on any car.Condor24 wrote:I don't find my C5 running bills too high.
