What guide did I follow? Do you mean to carry out the repair? If so I just followed the instructions from ELSA - official workshop manual.

The blue silicone hose is 3mm internal diameter. I swapped them all out at least 10 years ago and they have been perfect ever since.

What do you want to know about the after-run coolant pump?

Could be this......
Sounds like the same issue with mine. What guide did you follow?
What size blue pipe did you get? That seems like a god idea to replace all the vac hoses whilst the manifold is out.

Also can you tell me anything about the afterrun coolant pump?

Thanks

I thought I could hear air under the manifold. Hard to hear now that the air intake is off and it’s noisy.

With mine it was the brake booster valve.
I went to brake at some traffic lights and I was almost stood up with the pressure I had on my brake pedal.
Another fault was a seized rear caliper which was overheating the brake fluid resulting in a loss of brakes.

Thankfully unit 20 sorted it out for me.
All the brakes have have been reconditioned on mine so I would have thought it was a sticky brake. I would guess it’s the booster valve.

Yeah to carry out the repair. I’m going to do it myself so want to gather what information I can first. Do I have to remove the front bumper and radiator or can I get away with out?

Is that 3mom silicone hose?

I read something about the after run coolant pump being under the manifold and if it hasn’t been replaced it’s best to do it whilst everything is apart?

Yes IIRC Had my brake booster valve replaced last year. Amongst other things. Haven’t had a brake problem since.

It’s very scary when you totally lose your brakes ?
I needed a change of underwear when I got home.

Yeah, you need the car in service position as space is very limited otherwise. If you read me report it lists everything you need to do. It's a <beep> of a job though, really fiddly and difficult access to everything, but definitely doable.

Yes, 3mm internal diameter silicone hose - lots on eBay and other places.

Yes, the after-run pump lives underneath the inlet manifold - again, have a look at the post I made and you will see plenty of pics of the layout. I didn't replace mine when I did this job, didn't even think about doing it, but sods law it will pack in at some point in the near future knowing my luck!

Thanks

Thanks, I have read your post a few times now. Where can I find the ELSA workshop manual?

I’m assuming if I have to remove the radiators I will have to get my AC recharged after? It’s a lot of work for such a cheap part.

I got my copy of ELSA from eBay, but think there might be a link to its download in the stickies on this forum.

There is no need to remove the radiators to put the car in service position and no need to drain the A/C either. Have a read of a timing belt replacement job in the stickies and they will document service position.

Thank you. I have already watched this but it’s a newer model to mine, I’m assuming there isn’t much difference between the two?

Silicone hoses ordered
New vac pump (valve) ordered

Is there a sticky on here with the torque settings? Mainly for the manifold.

If you go to that YouTube channel and search videos for RS6 theres lots of helpful ones. There are videos for bumper, inner arch liners etc all which will help you. Once you have done it you will wonder what all the fuss is about :bigblink:
