Not sure what use friction modifier would be in a Torsen diff.

Me either, except maybe to assist while running in the new mating surfaces on gears? The doc I have only suggests its use after a full rebuild, so not needed in normal circumstances.

Odd. I wouldn't bother with it then. I've got some for my M3 diff, but I don't dare put it in. It really needs it though.

Same as all dealers, and TPS actually. They won't order anything without going in paying them, they wouldn't even accept cardover the phone for a bloody touch up pen.

Odd, maybe as Daveperc, Technick and myself live in an area where there is clearly a better average class of person living (excluding Aldershot), I certainly have never had to pay for a part in advance from Camberley Audi once.

Thanks Shop, think im going to pay today and pick it up tomorrow. it needs to get fixed soon now. Its been too long in the garage now and im really interesed if the clunk is gone, although there hasnt been much difference except for the fresh grease in the inner cv joint and a fresh seal and diff oil...
Think if its in this position (one jack at the right front...) for a longer period the car might even sit down at the left rear shock... :D

..was thinking how much tollerance there is between the tripode bearings and the back of the cv joint. When the tripode hits the backplate, its clunking...
Will measure the length between the back of the cv joint and the outer cv joint in the clunking position and will measure again when its fitted...

It shouldn't be able to move that much unless something is very wrong at the wheel end of the drive shaft.
