If this car is a keeper then talk to Mr Daveperc or Bam. They have non OEM boxes and is for me they way to go. If you can't see this car as long term then recon box and verter.
Is your car standard power?

Car in Glasgow..

I have full AA and will get it on a flatbed anywhere in UK that you guys think..

Budget wise...I have been told that there are specialist who will charge anywhere between £1.8 and £4-5k to replace a box..I have also been told on the forum that you can replace the gearbox without removing the engine....?!?!?!

If I am deciding to keep the car..I want to make sure the job is done right :beerchug:

Don't think you will get anyone in this country to drop just the box. Think Sweegie says there is a good place up in Scotland, think it is Star something?
Grizz is about 3 hours from you. Not sure on prices my self but others on here will be able to help. Take your time to make the best choice.

AMD have just done mine for 3.5k all in.

Can't complain, box is great and so is the warranty.

Your only problem will be is what else they will find that needs doing whilst they are in there. In my case intercoolers where shot, gearbox mount, cv boots, new anti roll bar, new bolts etc and I had a cambelt service done at the same time. Bill was close to £5300 + £1500 for the ICs.

Think you will get the point. New box is 5k plus fitting, fook that.

There is a place called Mackies - but I spoke to him and he was very reluctant to do an RS6. The guy has done 3 or 4 in his time and his words "The RS6 is a pain in the arse to do...." He quoted a min of £2.8k to look at the box and £1.5k to take the engine out..
