im sure they would have been done, the car was looked after no doubt.

bad mapping/chip ? i.e rich fueling?

Maybe. Or burning oil. Over rich fueling would be my first guess, if you are SURE that the plugs were changed. Do you have an invoice showing the date they were done?

The standard map errs on the side of lean, so that keeps the plugs nice and clean. If your map is too rich then you could get this, but I would expect that in closed loop mode that would prevent excess carbon build on.

My gut is that the plugs are old.

will check oil levels tonight, i suspect fueling aswell.

will dig through invoices, but might aswell, get a set of plugs ordered from TPS.

Would be handy to pop a plug from the other bank too, as the idle trim and long term fuel trim are per bank. You can read these fuel trims in block 32 and are handy when trying to diganose boost or vaccum leaks, but remember the trims will get cleared when you reset DTC codes, so read them first :thumbs:

^^good advice, but if the trim was so far out that it was causing fouling of the plugs, it would have thrown codes long ago. Plus the cats would probably be dead... BUT that might have all been mapped out. Who knows.

Yes, but there was some question over whether you had reset them recently or not.

ah ok, well i reset DTC's yesterday and i may well have reset them a while ago when this problem first reared its head.
