It might not be as clear cut as you think

A mapped S3 (8p) running 350bhp (stage 2+) has a power to weight ratio of 240 bhp/tonne

A std RS6 (C5) has 244 bhp/tonne and a lot more drivetrain losses. You would need around 500bhp to put some distance between the two cars, although the RS6 should pull away at higher speeds.

BTW, stage 2+ is a map, exhaust and a fuel pump.

Not standard. Gutted cats and ECU/TCU chip tune.

Looks like it was in the wet. I'd still have expected the Evo to do better.

It's quite fast! That Neon's probably quicker than a std '6..

you've just compared a modified car to a factory car... so not really comparable as a stage 2+ RS 6 would be...what 525 - 535 ?

and my comment was made as mine has had MRC magic per my sig...so yes, I would fancy my chances !

I actually agree a with that bit. My drc works pretty well and i have to say that the car feels pretty damn fine. I have yet to drive a coily car (other than track cars) so i cannot make the comparison. Mooch, if you are passing bournmeouth in the future and fancy demoing your coilys for me then im all yours.

Hehe OOOOerrrrr misses!

I have driven both, and yes the DRc when it works is ok for ride comfort, but for handling it is honestly crap. You have to remember you are running arb's that are like pencils which take out no body roll. combined with the extra 10mm of ride hight- it really is not in the same league....and I am sorry to disagree with you too!

I wonder what the DRC would be like with ARBs alone?

DJB who is over on SRS, had a set of DRC all round the day of our meet so it was definately working. Just as an excercise, we grabbed the roof rails of mine with both hands and tried to rock it from side to side- it hardly moved, no body roll at all, whereas his you could easily rock with one hand. I know t does not mean much, and the DRC does not operate in that dynamic, but you translate that into a corner at 100mph and feel the confidence drain away.... He is a motor tech and was shocked......

I did, against Jeffw's 550hp rs4, he was a tad quicker off the mark and in a straight line upto a point then couldnt put any more on me- i would have overhauled him eventually- in say 2 or 3 miles, but round corners he killed me.

He had Lynchy in the car at the time and I had Rspaul in with me, and it really was close on the rolling start- thats where the torque monster comes in to its own.

I am always a bit wary of the b5's s or rs- they can be very dangerous and make you look very ordinary.

Nice to know...
Spoke with JeffW at Lydden at the weekend. Said he'd spent ALOT withion the first year of owning that car, hence him not owning it now...

Interested in swap now - a mapped 3,0tdi A6 (300bhp & 40+mpg) and the little track monster Sylva jobbie. Nice combo.
