Not true or at least needs more detail, which I will provide. They will only SUPPLY new boxes. While they won't supply and fit recon boxes, they will fit customer-provided recon boxes but for obvious reasons cannot warranty any of the work within the box. Daveperc had them fit his heavily uprated gearbox & TC and one day they will fit mine too unless AmD ever come back to us with more detailed info on their drive in, drive out bombproof box option....

That's what I was told and I was given no other option. Even if they would fit a supplied recon box, who in the right mind would take the risk! It all needs to be done in house by the same person so you can't get each party blamming each other for either poor fitting, or poor rebuild. That comes from experince.

Have you put any business MRC's way before? If you haven't then they can well be wary of new customers with requests like this as they can bite them in the ass. If you know what you are talking about, have dealt with them before and are not trying trying to get them to slap in some random POS recon slushbox then you shouldn't have a problem, you just have to be aware that they cannot be held responsible for defects within the random box, as you have also mentioned in your reply.

I await Doug coming on here to tell me that their policy has changed since Daveperc's escapades ;)

Putting business there way previously has nothing to do with what I posted above. My point being was that I was told they do not use recon boxes, only new.

Should make no difference if I'm regular or not.

Just to make this clear, I'm not moaning or complaining just posting what I was told :)

Do you have to leave the car overnight at Unit20 to change the ATF? From various posts it seems crucial to have ATF temp at 35 degrees when changing it, so just curious...

At ZF in Germany they put some ventilators beneath the car the speed up the cooling process...
With that method, ofcourse depends on the temp of the box, will take 2-4 hours, incl oil refilling...

Nope, had it done on a sat morning. To be fair, 2 hour drive up to him gets the car lovely and warm, then it doesn't take long to get the new oil back upto temp.

After lettling the car settle,re-draining gearbox (new fluid), re-scanning, the issue has not re-appeared!! :nogarors4:

Car is responsive in both the paddle and autobox gear changes!! :biggrin3:
I appreciate that this is early doors - only about 400 miles, but all seems well..

Thanks All... :beerchug:

FWIW, Doug @ MRC told me they never allow customers to supply their own parts. I suspect this policy has some flexibility however, depending on who you are.
I've also put a decent amount of work their way.

So - the post I dreaded to type has came true.. :boohoo:

Gearbox issue has came back worse than before..

Once the car heats up, and the car is running at temperature, (using the paddles) - the car struggles to get into 2nd gear - high revs and then clumps into 2nd. On occasion it actually decidesto go through the gears itself when in paddle mode..even tho I am going 20 mph!!
Using the autobox - the car struggles to get into any gears!!

Not a good sign I admit .... :drink:

Sad times....
