tt-rs is a different kettle of fish to me, i'd have one. That doesn't really help the theory though with me being a hair dresser

Failing that, take it to a body shop and get them to 'bake' the car for as long as they reckon it'd need to dry it out.

You could always try dk!

Looks like you were on the right lines - trouble is that it is coded to the vehicle so now we have to wait till Monday for a new one from Audi....

Sigh

I'm just yankin yer chain. Like to take the p1ss out of a mate's R8 by calling it a fat TT. He reacts everytime :)

I never understood what the fuss about an R8 was until I went round the burger ring in one properly driven...

OK - well here is the final diagnosis.........

"Any bare crimp has reacted with the copper, aluminium and water. So the copper on all those connections just disappeared. I have soldered all the corroded crimp joints and checked all the other joints. I pulled out every pin on all the affected connectors and cleaned with ele trical cleaner so should be ok now."

Should be all complete by Tuesday night...... :jump:

Then all I have to do is pay the bill - insurance has covered part, but not all the work chasing the CAN bus and soldered joints.

Learning point is simple - don't leave your car wet on the inside for too long - it rots the loom! I should have got them drying from day one, and not waited for the insurance company to agree the costs etc.

Never mind - the Beast is coming back - let Christmas commence! :beerchug:

Well, every disaster should have a happy ending!

Finally picked her up this evening and had a happy, if rather wet run home - and the Beast is in A1 condition again.

Now have a new alternator, decatted, Milltek and a lot of resoldered joints and replaced controllers! (Oh - and cleaned carpets!)

Net result is 529BHP, but as Doug pointed out that is with 8 week old fuel in the tank - should be a few more ponies when it has fresh stuff in.

The mid range punch is where it really shows - much faster spool up means that the 3000-4000 range really feels very sharp - just where you want it! Had a little play with a Beemer - and I don't think he will have been in a happy mood when he got home :FIREdevil:

Insurance has paid the lion's share so apart from the frustration of being without her for 6 weeks it could have been much more painful.

Many thanks for all the support and encouragement here - much needed in the darker hours!

Dave

Yes sorry - earlier post should have said "de-pre-catted" - the main Cats are still there - I like my emmissions to be street legal!
