Are Michelin PS4S's still the flavour of the month?

In the recent Evo tyre test, the PS4S finished 6th out of 8 tyres tested. Main criticism of Michelins was their relative expense.

1st Continental SportContact 7
2nd Bridgestone Potenza Sport
3rd Maxxis Victra Sport 5 VS5
4th Pirelli P Zero PZ4
5th Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Sport
6th Michelin PS4S
7th Toyo Proxes Sport 2
8th Falken Azenis FK510

Have also sourced some thin wheel spacers and am contemplating grinding away the knobbly bit

Can’t beat PS4S. They are awesome tyres, even in the cold.

Ive always been unimpressed with contisports. They were lethal on the M3.

Bridgestones… well they’re called tombstones for a reason (Rule 44)
Actually they’re ok on lighter cars. Just not on the RS6.

What on earth are Maxxis?

There’s an offer on Ling Longs if you want to practice drifting.

found a 'black friday' deal that gave 20% off tyres, so a set of Michelin PS4S is on their way.

Any idea of the cause of the odd wear?

Not found anything obvious.

All suspension and steering things feel nice and tight
I'd notice a totally shagged wheel bearing
I'm still wonding if the Zimmermann bell is fractionally thinner than an OEM one.

Same thing has just happened to my friend's recent Skoda Superbe which is completely standard in every way. It's a mystery, too.

Car is back on its wheels again ready for tyre man to come round tomorrow.

Car appears to have a yellow brake warning on dash, so need to check this out next. Is there anything else that can trigger it apart from front pads and low brake fluid. Gut feeling is poor connection for the front brake pad sensors.

No, that’s it I believe. Easy enough to test by short circuiting the pad sensors.

Haven’t driven it yet as I’m doing the drivers door latch.

If you still have old OEM discs, could you measure thickness of the brake disc bell - where wheel bolts through disc to hub?

I’ll be able to measure my old ones in a couple of weeks I think.
Forgot about this. Remind me on Thursday or Friday and I’ll measure mine too.
