I reckon that Audi won't be even vaguely interested as you are fitting in non standard equipment to that model and talking about splicing this, bodging that etc. As soon as you say 2008 A3 RNS-E I expect you will hit a wall, possibly before then. You need a proper specialist like Hazyy Dayz or TCL Satnav in my opinion.

RS6_TOY wrote:Mines all done and working, right this is what you need to do !! Personally I'd make good and rebuild the instrument panel and start again .

this is what I've done !!

On your Wiring connector the one from eBay the addapter !! find pins 9 and 10 my colors were gray and black and blue, make them separate to the rest of the loom ! Then cut the wires just befor were the connector pug is to you old connector then make the wires longer using a connector or solder long enuff to reach the tmc
Find the TMC module behind the knee bolster and use the can low and high wires that go low can orange/brown and hi can orange/purple Tap into the wiring there, connect it all up put the key in and the rnse should turn itself on then put your ignition on turn your lights on and see if all is good !

Hope that's helped
So where abouts on the tmc module did you tap into the can wires, as i taped into the can wires that come from the tmc unit but maybe i need to tap into the can wires before they go through this module as i understand the tmc is not used any more and maybe this is why its not working turning on and off right ?

This shouldn't take this long, 1-2 hours max, and I'm crap with this sort of stuff. Take it to CraigyB or Hazy Days before you break something, I'm not sure an A3 unit will fit anyway, it is completly different.

the whole point of theses forums is to try and find solutions to problems right ? Have taken advice onbord and followed instructions and cant understand why mine is not fully working propley. Sounds alsome though even with just the sd cards it sounds better than the old unit , and also plays cds in the head unit, just a shame it does not take the bigger size sdhc cards but ive still mannaged to get about 435 trax on a 4 gb non sdhc card so with 2 of them and a couple spares its all good :biggrin3:

"Posted - 4:00am"

Christ, Friday night dogging sessions run long down there! The fact is that a lot of the advice/stuff we have asked has gone unanswered and as many of us have "been there, done that" (but not with a 2008 A3 one that doesn't even have the correct fascia if I am correct), there is only so much that can be said before you really, reallr, really have to actually consider calling an EXPERT in these things and we have given you the contacts for that.

They won't charge you for a 2 minute phone conversation, if they can help then they will no doubt but they will also tell you honestly if it warrants a trip down to you. If time is no option at all then tinker away but...
