Disaster!
Re: Disaster!
All put back together next week. Picked up the week after.
I'll certainly try to get along to a meet, last one was the MRC rolling road day last xmas, too long.

Re: Disaster!
Light at the end of the tunnel!!
Insurance company has agreed a cash settlement in "full and final", and car gets repaired and back to me with lots of MRC care along the way.
So if the rest of you can just keep yours out of MRC till Friday.......
Then she'll be back... better than ever

Re: Disaster!
Glad you got it all sorted, have fun when you finally get it back.

Re: Disaster!
Spent a happy hour and a half on my knees on Doug's floor yesterday sucking furiously!
Got 3-4 litres of very dirty water out of the foam on the back of the carpet - amazing how thick it is in places!
Also amazing how much of the wiring and connectors are immedately under the carpets - really isn't a good idea to fill your footwells with water!
All being well the main mechanical work will be done today, and I'll collect her tomorrow
Off to Wales with her on Saturday - a good long run to continue the drying out - I suspect I'll be living with a fan heater in the car for the next month or so!

Re: Disaster!
Bother... more delays (and expense!)
Looks like the fan controller is drowned (or at least not working) and a downpipe stud has sheared. No way it can be finished today
On the positive side, the car will be thoroughly dry by the time they come to put the carpet back in
So now it's next Friday for pick up........ Have to take my Focus ST to Wales instead - which is actually a LOT of fun on the twisties, but less satisfying when confronted by a long queue of cars to pass!

Re: Disaster!
At least there's no serious engine damage. And at least you have the ST. These are great cars. The only thing that lets it down is the draconian traction control.

AAAaaaaggggghhhhhhh!
Almost there, but.... now there is water somewhere in the electronics. The door locks, lights and windows work intermittently. Even with my old controller, a new one and one borrowed from Doug's rs6....
They are hunting down the little gremlin even as I type - but I suspect I shan't be seeing my baby today...
All ideas welcomed

Re: Disaster!
A really big hairdryer, ask over on the TT forum, I'm sure they'll have some top-shelf hairdryers over there.
Failing that, take it to a body Shop and get them to 'bake' the car for as long as they reckon it'd need to dry it out.

Re: Disaster!
I'd hazzard a guess it could be the box of tricks under the passenger seat...the comfort module or something like that...if you lift the carpet in the passenger footwell you can gain access...there's a black plastic box...this fu8ked up on my wifes A6... once the black box is opened....and in our case water emptied!!...a blast with a hairdryer got it up and running again
