Just thought I'd add my most recent experience with W.D. onto this thread.
Always like to leave reports of good experiences with Warranty companies as there are so many bad ones out there.
Had problems with a niggling rumbling noise on the 6 for the last few months and was sure it was a wheel bearing but not really noisy or loud enough to positively identify which bearing it was.
Its difficult to spin the wheels fast enough to simulate road speeds when its up in the air due to the drag from all the driveshafts (unless some one else knows any tricks to do this ?)
I reported it to W.D. who said they could not arbitrarily replace parts on guess work until the noise went (which I think is fair enough) and to wait until it became obvious which bearing it was.
I had the N/S/R replaced (at my own expense) as it seemed to be making the most noise when it was spun but this didn't cure it so I couldn't put in a claim for this One.
Eventually it got loud enough to identify both the fronts as the culprits.
Had to get the work done quickly as I needed the car for a trip up't North so rang W.D. who authorised the work over the phone without the need for an engineer to inspect it, the bearings were replaced (while I watched) by a trusted local garage the same day and I paid £497.98.
To sort the payment out I had to make a couple of calls and an email or Two which were mostly down to my not being able to send the paperwork straight off due to the aforementioned trip.
W.D. were easy to get hold of on the phone, rang me back when they said they would and were totally professional.
Two cheques arrived this Morning for a total of £397.90.
For some reason they have treated it as Two separate jobs and deducted my excess of £50.00 off each job, I will ring to see if this can be treated as One job so I can reduce the excess to just the £50.00 I was expecting.
My Extra care policy this Year was £750 for 12 Months.
This includes wear and tear, emissions and airbags and franchised dealer labour rates (if necessary its up to me who carries out any work its not tied to Audi and I'm allowed to use aftermarket components rather than Audi parts if I want to) with a £50.00 Excess.
This means after I have been reimbursed for the repairs I've only paid £350.00 for 12 months peace of mind motoring.
I know others will have different experiences but so far mine with W.D. have all been good.
For me running a slush fund would not be as cost effective as this.
As long as they provide warranty for my car I'll be prepared to buy it.
BTW I'm not affiliated to W.D. in any way.
