I only use my car only at weekends.

I brought it in jan this year, have spent £400 on maintenance/insurance swop over, £1200 on fuel (3600 miles at 18mpg?) and £4300 on mods.

But mines a C6.

Not sure if we are soiling this thread but I drive mine only at weekends apart from when I go to clients and refuse to drive the company Laguna, so 9 trips out of 10 then. Bought in November, done under 5k so far and I am well past 15K now in additional modifications and upkeep, with another few grand being slapped down shortly in mods. I am a tw@t.

@footlong - Apart from mods which are a discretionary spend, what have you spent on maintenance and consumables?

I think the grammar nazi thing is bearing fruit. We've gone from diddent to discretionary in a remarkably short period.

bwilliams wrote:Hello. I did read the first post and I do have one simple question. You say that running costs on the first year are 30 percent of the price. So in theory if I bought one for 20k, it would need 6k in the first year. Here is my big question. Is this based on a car that is driven daily or leisurely? I want to buy one of these for a weekend car only. So two days a week of driving, and around 5k miles a year. What do you think this would run me per year? Thanks

if you are trying to work out a budget on how to run a RS6, then I'm afraid this is not the right car for you

I honestly have too many receipts already to care about going through them and calculating it all really but I would ballpark way north of 5K upkeep alone. If you really are desperate for the info I can figure it out at some point.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity I have just skimmed through the upkeep work and this may be out by £500 or so, maintenance and consumables look like they have come in at around £9139.40 since November last year. Just to clarify, that DOES NOT INCLUDE MODS ladies (I classified the PSS9's as a required maintenance part though). Right, now I have a vague idea what I have spent, I am off to break yet more equipment :).

How can you talk about 'around about' figures, when you've quoted down to the .40p? :P

I'm doing well then, I'm at £5k maintenance and have done double your mileage. Not that it's a competition or anything.

I own my 6 (C5) since May this year, spent around £2000 so far (supension arm+steering control end rod, rear brake discs+pads, servicing, spare wheel). And I need Bilsteins, rocker cover gasket change and another supension arm. Plus my car bl**dy smokes on start up from o/s tailpipe on occassions, MRC found a small amount of oil collecting in the first cylinder, driver side bank, so if I have to change the valve seals, it'll be another £3000-£4000 as it is engine-out job. :FIREdevil:

Yu have to really love these cars to keep them on the road.

I am seriously thinking to part exchange it and get something sensible. I would loose a lot, but I have to invest a lot to keep it.

But every time I press on the loud pedal.... :biggrin3:
