hehe, same here - recently bought a tumble-dryer of the bay and it went straight in the back no problemo. In fact, there was too much room and I was struggling to find things to pack out the space around it!! Luckily, the bloke had a couple of cardboard boxes which I wedged the dryer in with.

Yeah but you don't need 500 horse to cart a washer/tumble dryer or your weekly trip to Asda.
A TDi a6 could do that... with enough money left over for a proper sports car ;)

If a had the time and cash spare, I would have an Atom + an estate. But - as I have 2 kids, several other outside interests, the opportunites to drive a 2nd car are not there. That is why I sold the RS4. I ended up always using the RS6. A happy, sensible compromise is the best I can come up with.

On another note, I spoke to work colleague the other day. He has a 2month old GTR and is fed up with it already. It is up for sale after only 2months and he reckons he'll only loose £12k..!

My mate who has one seems to be struggling to sell his because viewers always have half a dozen others that they're looking at. That said, he's still expecting to get back what he paid for it, partly because a lot of the extras he has on his were cost free when he ordered but subsequently became ~£1k each.

Oh and he's only selling because family circumstances changed quite a lot in the two years from when he paid his deposit to when he took delivery (another deposit&delivery happened..). AFAIK he's in no way fed up with it and if I had the money I'd gladly take it off him. FFS, when it comes to carrying a washing machine, I'll just pay for delivery.

Done the 2 car thing. And did it for years too.

Have used over the years Montego 1.6 estates/Citroen ZX 1.9TD estate/Mk4 PD TDI 130 Golf estate all for work (self-employed), shopping, family stuff (2 kids) and had various fast/uneconomical 2nd (sports) cars 'for the weekends'.

In the end I just got fed up with having 2 bloody cars. 2 x tax, 2 x MOT, 2 x insurance, 2 x everything - and I cringed everytime I started the 2nd car as I knew the oil had settled right to the bottom of the engine - as well as the battery not being happy on more than one occasion. As I rented my garages from the council, there were 2 lots of those charges as well - that alone was 384 quid p/a for just one garage.

In the end I got sick and tired of it all and worked out that I wasn't really saving any money by having an everyday diesel car because my yearly mileage was only about 8k-ish, so in the end decided that I would just try to combine all the properties I ever wanted/had from my 2 cars into just one car.

The RS6+ does everything I want, is as quick as I want and has as much room as I want. Only downside is the economy - but because I don't have another car to run and its associated costs, coupled together with the low annual mileage, it really isn't a problem - AND I get to drive it every single day. I wouldn't trade all of that just to have 2 separate cars again, no way on earth.

I had a black edition GTR which I collected in June after an 18 Month wait. 3 Months and 1150 miles later I sold it to a trader who still has it for sale (I think.)
Nice car, lotsa press hype, blisteringly quick but quite boring.
It did everything as expected with ease BUT it was expected.
My S4 avant 'daily' with the full Millteks turns more heads as people don't expect such a noise from, what looks like a quick hearse.

In a nutshell - I'd have an RS6 over the GTR any given day of the week.

Hope this helps the debate...and makes you love your RS6 even more.

One of the coolest answers ever - top stuff!

I can only claim to have had an 'exciting' 5 laps of Bedford Autodrome in a Black Edition 09-plate GTR and it was very able, very fast (although not much different to my RS to be honest - gotta love torque...), very loud (no CATs, Milltek Y-Pipe) and altogether very nice. But I was only 'whelmed', not overwhelmed, nor underwhelmed, just whelmed.

So not whelmed enough to chuck £30-40k at a GTR. Thanks grum71 !!!

Any loud exhaust turns heads, as do dump valves. Not always (or perhaps not even often), for the right reasons. The GTR is quite quiet though, certainly quieter than a standard RS6. However, if attention is your thing (and having been carjacked, it certainly isn't mine), then I thought the GTR would be ideal - whenever I've been out with my mate, he gets loads of attention in his. He gets people taking photos of it, on the motorway, parked up, allsorts. Quite frankly that would give me sleepless nights!
