Looking to buy an RS6
Re: Looking to buy an RS6
Looks alright that. I'd probably check all 4 tyres match and consider replacing them as I don't think Nankangs are a great choice. Wood interior does look better.
PSI tuning aren't far from there. Worth seeing if they can do an inspection on it to make sure it's decent. They usually charge an hour's labour or so. They're VAG and have RS6s in and all sorts of other exotica every now and then.
I never trust dealer MOTs or servicing so I have to check independently whether it's ok. Other folk may be more trusting!

I think it's decent enough for the money, I guess if you want something mint with full stamped service history you need to be spending £14k+. This isn't immaculate but drives really nice with no knocking sounds and has a good spec.
I'll probably change the wheels so will look for some with decent matching tyres.
Will change the climate control panel and some switches as they are worn.
I like the wood personally, maybe because it's a darker type.
The power is immense though and hearing those turbos is never going to get old!
I'm happy with it and have a nice pot for future repairs.

Re: Looking to buy an RS6
Looks very nice at that price.
Do a auto scan ASAP.
According to the advert some of the usual problems have been sorted eg gearbox rad etc
What warranty does the car have.
Hope you enjoy your new purchase
And have many miles of happy motoring.
Be careful it’s soooooo easy to get points on your licence.

I'm in the process of buying VCDS so will do.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 4:36 pmLooks very nice at that price.

It has 1 month warranty due to the age and mileage, I thought garages were a minimum of 3 months.
Yes I have invoices for all of the bits done, its had quite a bit of money spent on it but I'm sure they all have!
I don't do many miles a week so it's not going to get hammered but I can see it getting me into trouble...
Can't wait to get it now, my dream has been fulfilled after 18 years - looking forward to giving it a good wash, polish and wax.
The headlights need the sanding treatment.
I may even buy the same wheels as the one out of Layer Cake for full effect - or is that the wrong thing to do??
Re: Looking to buy an RS6
Consumer rights come into play but with something of that age and mileage you are kind of on your own unless it's unroadworthy at time of sale. Any warranty is in addition to consumer rights. Most of the warranty companies have a 100,000 mile limit.
Re: Looking to buy an RS6
I did look at getting a private warranty but no chance. They are all 12 year maximum.

What srichards said.
Looks like a decent buy. Congrats.
Definitely needs new alloys and tyres. Can’t be putting happy shopper tyres on a car like this. PS4S is the best for this car.
The layer cake wheels are the OE 18” wheels. They weren’t popular because the nicer (IMO) 19” wheels were a no cost option. They still a good wheel though and it’s an original option.

Well done. Looks good for the money. Definitely agree in getting it checked over by a specialist (although personally I'd steer clear of PSi, gone downhill over the past couple of years IMO) Unit 20 FTW

Re: Looking to buy an RS6
Also worth bearing in mind as you've only got a month's warranty and Unit 20 are bombed out busy, TQC off Dewsbury Road, Fenton are very capable. Ian is an ex Audi Master tech and his team are very thorough and helpful. Ask very nicely & he'll give you a run out in his very tasty V10 R8. (No, he won't

That explains why there arn't many with those wheels on. I may get those to be different and hopefully they come with decent tyres like you've suggested!

Thanks for the info mate and let me know if you want to have a mini meet sometime.Weiß-sechs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 6:38 pmAlso worth bearing in mind as you've only got a month's warranty and Unit 20 are bombed out busy, TQC off Dewsbury Road, Fenton are very capable. V10 R8 is my new dream

Re: Looking to buy an RS6
See if you can find some MTM wheels. They are similar to those OE 18” but 19”. They are one of the best suited wheels for the RS6. Maybe Mavada can post a pic of his or search for his posts.
Forged preferably. The others have a reputation for being a bit soft.

Re: Looking to buy an RS6
Funnily enough the first RS6 I saw in 2003 had those wheels aswell as an MTM badge on the opposite side to the RS6 badge. Bet they're pricey to buy, just had a look and someone is selling some for £900. With decent tyres I'd be looking at £1500Shoppinit wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 7:28 pmOh, Classik’s got them, too. Forgot about that. Check this out:

1.5 standard RS currency units. Not bad.
