RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Oh, and I'll never sell mine. Not for a C6 or anything else.
C5 is, and always will be the daddy!

I left Glasvegas 6 months ago and my car insurance halved. Criminals put salt and vinegar on their chips over there too. Glad I escaped in one pieceMr Footlong wrote:Renfrewshire basically means flaming Glasgee to me, that is where it is. Good curries there though... Much better than Edinburgh

Do regret selling mine
But replaced with E63 AMG difference is like chalk/cheese...
On the plus side Feckin noise on the Merc is to die for
The kids hate the AMG and loved the RS6
What the heck do I know
Confess to being a bit of a straight road speed merchant
So my opinion counts for very little but put it out anyways...

I can't imagine selling it although swapping to a C6 would tempt me to part. More likely I'll just get a C6 as a daily

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Selling a C5 RS6 is a challenge. First they're not worth enough to justify selling it to raise capital and second there's not much that touches it as a replacement.
I'm selling mine now, I've been trying to keep it in the family but think I'm going to have to concede and let it go. My missus loves it and drives it most of the time - when it's on the road. Which is the key issue, with 2 kids on a school run now vs. one with a short walk when we bought it, having a reliable car is key. I'm going to be gutted and probably get written out of the family will as my step Dad hates BMW's and generally Audi but loves the RS6 as it is a 'proper car'.
I'm looking at replacing it with a 2013 335d touring (awaiting abuse)... it's either the RS6 or the RS2 that will have to go to accommodate that and the RS2 is my keeper I'm afraid!

If you're going to buy a diesel, then it has to be a BMW. That way you'll still get some enjoyment from the handling unlike the 3.0 TDI A6 S Line I had the misfortune to spend the week in recently. I enjoyed my 320d M Sport Coupe that I ran alongside my plus more than I had any right to, with X Drive now available, the only area the Audi excels in is MMI vs IDrive IMO.

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
If your going to buy a BMW diesel and it has swirl flaps make sure you remove them and fit blanking plugs. They have a habit of breaking up and destroying the engine. If your buying a newish one be prepared for timing chain problems. IMO BMW are having severe quality issues recently.

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Yeah, I ripped the swirl flaps out of two of my 320d's, the 335D I had went in for warranty bits a few times, too. A new 335d or any 35d engines didn't have the swirl flap problem as far as I'm aware and with a 3year unlimited mileage warranty vs the limited mileage Audi one it isn't an issue.

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
sold mine after less than 2 years of ownership and after spending lots of cash bringing it to the level i wanted(maintenance and upgrades), and even though i had no major issues with it apart from the common ones, i don't regret the bills but i do miss the car, in fact i am seriously thinking of getting another one but nothing comes up for sale to please me. I still believe that C5 is at the end of the day good value for money, the amount of cash you pay to have over 500hp still is attractive and as long as you don't beat it daily it shouldn't brake the bank. Having said that, i hope i will be back soon with another RS6 C5

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Sadly I agree with the new Audi's, the only B8 i would have bought was the S4, which was a consideration, and when specc'd up vs a similar 335d spec it was actually 2 grand cheaper.
But 11.9% vs 4.9% and about 4% discount vs 19% achieved on the BMW made the 335d alot less on PCP. Plus they didn't take me seriously at Audi, when i asked about a test drive they put my name on a list as nobody was available and never called me...
I'm going to miss it though, I might need to pump a bit into the RS2 to compensate, KWs and a respray might make me feel a bit better...
For sale thread will come soon, great candidate car for a DIYer or someone who wants a cheaper car to justify a 517 'box...

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
BMW have had to be quite aggressive in discounting/registering extra demos to try and compete with Audi, who outsold them by 7/8k cars in 2013, they didn't like that!
I can only imagine the S4 you were looking at were a used example to come out with an 11.9% APR rate versus the 4.9% of a brand new BMW? Therefore missing out on any subsidy from the manufacturer who would prefer to push out new builds from the factory.

Re: RS6 C5 owners: Will you ever sell?
Fair point there - the 11.9% was approved used. Looks like they do 6.7% on new and some impressive discounts (circa 15%) to be had on B8 RS4's with their current initiatives... nothing on the S4 though, must be selling enough to feel they don't need to.
