Official ATF fluid is Pentasyn ATF1, but I'm using Motul MultiATF in my car which also holds the correct ZF type rating for these gearboxes. Bad idea to mix fluids in my opinion, so only consider a change of brand if you're flushing the whole 10 litres out.

I also had Archoil 2300 in my box for 1000 miles to remove varnish and condition the internal seals. You cant leave this in however, so you'll need to drop 5 litres again in 1000 miles.

Yep, here you go.

01L 321 371 - Gasket for Oil Sump
01V 321 379 - o-ring for fill plug
018 321 377B - seal bolt (drain plug)
01L 325 429 B - oil strainer
01L 325 443 - oil strainer seal

You can get the fluid from TPS too, but they are expensive. Plenty places online to buy Pentasyn ATF1 if you're sticking with it

Thanks for the post Amar - I would like to take it to Chester autos, however I dont want to take risks on the box just in case it goes into limp mode again..

Remember once you have had the flush and oil change done don't go thrashing the arse off it...give the fresh fluid a chance to work its magic 500 miles/ a couple of months before giving it yahoo...give it the best chance...just like a patient who has undergone a blood transfusion it's not the best idea to check out of the hospital and go on the raving rip...with luck the box will get back to what it once was...Good luck

Hi Folks..

Quick update..

The report back from the mechanic was the the filter was clogged, and the oil was almost sludge!!

The filter was replaced, as was all fluids.

Just got car back today and too it for gentle drive, and the issue is still there....its not there to begin with, but when u slow down to first gear, the car every tenth time will lurch..

Starting to worry that this could be the end of the gearbox..

Any further ideas would be much appreciated.

All that sludge is the remnants of your friction material of the clutch packs.

What's the issue again? Did you take the valve body out to look at the ATF pipes, and stuff?

Hi Shop

Originally the car struggled to get into 2nd gear...the car then went into limp mode and the error code 17114 appears confirming 2nd gear ratio issues.

As per advise, I got the mechanic to drain the gearbox fluid, replace filter etc in the hope that the car would run better.

I collected the car today, but after driving about ten miles, the car went into limp mode again and the car struggles to get into the low gears...not all the time..prob once every 10-15 times.

Hope that helps..

The sludge is bad news, but it's still worth checking the ATF pipes. You'll have to remove the valve body for that, and it's probably better left to a gearbox expert.

Problem is, any more money you spend on Hail Mary procedure will be less money you will have to put towards a new box.
