http://www.wallaceracing.com/tire-aspect-calc.php

255/40/18 - Current setup - Wheel height 26.03" according to them

275/30/19 - New setup - Wheel height 25.5" according to them

Hmm, now I think about it (Had a fecking horrible day yesterday, was all a blur, non-work brain activity appears to have been non-existent), doing it crudely:

45.72cm+4+4=53.72 total diameter for the 18" setup

48.26+3+3=54.26 total diameter for the 19" setup

So, no difference/the tiniest smidge heigher ride height but nothing worth thinking about. What crack pipe is that site smoking?

Now I work it out, the site is right. Your wheel diameter will reduce by about 12mm, so about half an inch. So your ride will drop by about half that - 6mm.

Eerm... stay in bed Mr Footlong - today isn't looking good either!!

The "40" or "30" is an aspect ratio - ie a percentage of the nominal width.

So for 18" wheels you have 45.72 +2 x (25.5 x 0.4) = 66.12 cm and for 19" you have 48.26 + 2 x (27.5 x 0.3) = 64.76; a difference in diam of 1.36 cm, or about 1/4" on ride height.

Of course that is nominal, as it doesn't take the need to "squash" the tyre to support the car weight!

At the end of the day I think the real message is simple - get the boxes up close to the car, and don't slam the suspension too much! I have the Milltek with standard ride height and have no problems with speed bumps etc.

Bollocks, I had it in my head that the 30/25/40 thing was the depth in CM. Now I remember, I have done this before.......

295/30/19 would have given you very close to the original diameter, but dont' think they would fit on 9.5" wheels.

Guys, from looking at it the other day, it is the Miltek cats that are are the lowest point of the car and they can't be raised any more I have been told. I already wanted the ride height raised a bit for ccomfort but I don't want her to her look like she is running on stilts again so we shall see I guess. Ho hum.

Except when you are wrong afaic ;). I am too old now for the MOT emissions gamble that I used to go through with some of the other cars. Also, I am not getting my car taken away by the boys in blue if I get stopped and am found to be running no cats. However, I have tbh and say that it is more likely that I get stopped for doing Mach 10 or something like that.

If you're gunna be hauled in for doing Mach 10 then CATs are going to be the least of your worries. Besides, you can negate the MOT emissions gamble by loading the dice...
