better idea is take a trip to VWG UK (aka Audi UK) Yoemans Drive MK, and park all the RS 6's and 4's that have suffered DRC problems. . . dump them outside the offices and get local press coverage. . . maybe then Jeremy Hicks might come out and address you
ps. I worked at VWG UK for a year in their finance department so know the place well, but dont ask me for their blueprints in case your planning a raid !

don't need blueprints for a napalm strike!
On a serious note, still nothing from Audi themselves, though i am starting to get emails from people who are FINALLY getting some work done on their car for free. New shocks and no labour charges. Better than nothing I guess, just a shame its 7 years too late......
only time will tell if they are actually any good though, lets keep our fingers crossed!

At the risk of upsetting many people on this forum who have fought long and hard to get rectification work carried out on their (and others) cars, I have today received confirmation from Audi UK that ''..... in light of this new information I will be honouring the goodwill of 100% labour boosting our goodwill to 100% for the total repair..." on my car. The ''new information'' was a copy of the press response (note change of description) (cheers Rilla, you're a leg end!) shoved right up their proverbial. Will wait and see what the ''total repair'' actually is before getting too excited - and will post final details when available. A complete suspension replacement was quoted by the dealer. Dealer has already booked car in, so this bodes well for parts availability.....
At the risk of sounding like I'm defending Audi (which I can assure you I am not!) - the document concerned was a response from Robin Davies from Audi Press Office to a letter from Richard Yarrow of Auto Express on 7th April. Happy to assist others where I can - do PM me.
Finally, I know I can't talk when it comes to poor jokes on this forum, but Cas , honestly.....'shock horror'....has to be right up there!!!!

would be interested to know if these cars were covered by any warranty and if this sets any precedence? i.e. if the warranty companies get wind of this will they tell us where to go and let Audi pick up the tab...Rilla wrote:i am starting to get emails from people who are FINALLY getting some work done on their car for free. As far as i am aware, they were faults picked up AFTER the press release. Im unsure of any warranty issues, but I have to say if Audi are going to be paying for 100% of costs on DRC repairs, the warranty companies have no issue as they dont need to be informed. Now is a good time to get your cars into a dealers for inspection even if your car 'feels' ok. Get what you can out of Audi while you can is all I'm saying, also, dont pay for any inspections, any issues with that from the dealers let me know, ill get on the case for free inspections to be carried out for people with Richard Starkey, seen as im on a roll lolMalcolmSu wrote:would be interested to know if these cars were covered by any warranty and if this sets any precedence? i.e. if the warranty companies get wind of this will they tell us where to go and let Audi pick up the tab...Rilla wrote:i am starting to get emails from people who are FINALLY getting some work done on their car for free. I have received a preliminary advice from my barrister on the subject of a group litigation order against Audi.
In summary, the full document has been PM'd to Rilla for consideration of the next stage:
It appears from the information supplied to me that Martin .... has a potential claim for damages, either under the Act, or under earlier sale of goods and services legislation, or in negligence. Other individuals may also wish to be involved (under CPR Part 19) in multi-party litigation under a Group Litigation Order, or similar consolidated proceedings.
I would be happy to advise further (and, if necessary, to draft a pre-action protocol letter) once additional documentation and information has been obtained, as indicated above. Should proceedings be required to be issued, a solicitor will also require to be instructed on behalf of the claimants.
Obviously to take this action further we all have to play our part in providing documentary evidence and a share of the costs, rarely have I read such a one sided opinion from a legal point of view.
More soon.

Got a call from my local dealer yesterday telling me the press release relates on the the RS4, but Audi will contribute to 50% of costs of partly fixing mine. Not a 100%. Mine is a Nov 2003, 58000 miles and full Audi history.Rilla wrote:As far as i am aware, they were faults picked up AFTER the press release. On a serious note I'm asking my dealer to pick up the phone to Richard Starkey and/or Robin Davies to confirm the position.

Hi.
I work at Carlisle Audi, and I'm in sales, not service.
However news to the dealer network is made by "Audi desktop" - a web site that dealer staff can visit.
This morning on desktop:
"Increased factory goodwill for DRC on RS 6
AU0334-09
Increased factory goodwill is now available for Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) problems on the C5 model RS 6.
A substantial materials contribution is available for manufacturing defects (up to six years or 180,000km) upon a goodwill application on SAGA/2. The usual factory goodwill parameters apply: a full Audi network service history is required, and vehicles must be unmodified from standard specification.
Service ID Description Damage type Model
4090 Shock absorber

0020
0050
4B40EZ
4B45EZ
4B60AZ
4B60EZ

8HE5X9
8HERX9
4293 Shock absorber
4331 Front spring damper
4366 Spring damper
If you can carry out a repair for a customer using this support, you will also be able to claim goodwill support from the National Contact Centre for the labour charges associated with this repair. This can be claimed via authority submission or empowerment.
Customer information
Customers with concerns about future reliability can be advised that we adhere to a policy of continuous development across all areas of manufacturing, including replacement parts and, in line with this policy, the DRC shock absorbers have been consistently improved since the introduction of the RS 6. The current parts are now further reinforced and longer lasting.
Any offer of support for these repairs should be positioned as a goodwill gesture."
End document.
This gets my goat, as I've already replaced my faulty system with H&R and hotchkis arbs, however I do miss the better ride quality which came with the DRC!
It looks like from this info I cannot get any "goodwill" due to my car having modified suspension!
