Guys, the RNS E lighting up with the headlights is a very simple thing to sort. In my S8 I had to mess around with some CAN crap behind the speedo, it took me all of 15/20 mins. I don't know about the RS6. Look for a guide on fitting it to the RS6/Google/or ask on an Audi nav forum (navplus), if that fails speak to CraigyB or Hazy Days. Fitting an RNS E to an RS 6 should be a piece of cake, plug and play.

Yeah ive already connected the can high/low wires to the can can high/low on the back of the RNS-E all that did was make it light up when i put the head lights on going to try a couple other things
Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
Mines all done and working, right this is what you need to do !! Personally I'd make good and rebuild the instrument panel and start again .
this is what I've done !!
On your Wiring connector the one from eBay the addapter !! find pins 9 and 10 my colors were gray and black and blue, make them separate to the rest of the loom ! Then cut the wires just befor were the connector pug is to you old connector then make the wires longer using a connector or solder long enuff to reach the tmc
Find the TMC module behind the knee bolster and use the can low and high wires that go low can orange/brown and hi can orange/purple Tap into the wiring there, connect it all up put the key in and the rnse should turn itself on then put your ignition on turn your lights on and see if all is good !
Hope that's helped

Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
Ok im going to to try this now where can i find the wires in the tmc ?
Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
dont supose you got any pics of wat you have done as i dont want to make a mistake ?
Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
Ok i kind of understand but how do you mean (find pins 9 and 10 my colors were gray and black and blue, make them separate to the rest of the loom)
I have found pin 9/10 on the back of the adapter the blue and grey/black wires, do you mean by make them separate that i should cut these wires from the end so that they are still going into the RNS-E adapter but are 2 separate wires ? then do i just run the can wires direct to theses 2 wires, instead of just tapping into them like i have ?

I think i know now so just cut the blue and grey/black wires right on the end on the red connector plug yeah so that these 2 wires are still connected to the RNS-E adapter then run the can wires to these wires right ?
Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
Yer aslong as youve found pins 9 and 10 when I say separate them I mean it so u can just have them to hand and know there the ones you want, all you need to do is connect the can wires together then and that's it
I didn't take any pics I just wanted to get it done and our the way lol. Let me know how u get on !! remmber low can orange/brown and hi can orange/purple

Re: fitting wide screen sat nav 4B0 035 192P
OK so ive done everything you said and put back all the speedo cluster to normal and tapped into the can wires from the TMC unit and connected them the can/h and can/l to pins 9 and 10 and its the same as before with just the lights coming on and off when you put the headlights on, the unit does switch on and off manually but still not with the car ignition and still no radio display in the very top cluster - anyway went in today to have it checked on a vag-com the second car audio specialist ive been to this one is a vag specialist, so they said its all wired up ok and there VAG-COM is communicating ok with the RNS-E unit. They plugged it in and said that it is a 2008 unit, that I already know as it says it on the unit, but they also said it must have came from a 2008/2009 A3 as its still programmed to an A3 and that’s why its not working properly with my RS6. They have tryed to reprogram it or something but with no luck, They said the unit i bought might be to new for my 2004 RS6 as there is about 10 different RNS-E units out there so they say, But when i left the garage the navi display in the speedo cluster worked for the sat-nat, but still not for the radio stations at the top or still not on or off with the key, but it seems they must have done something, is this something Audi could do, Or do I need a older unit (This unit was sold to me as for an A6) ? Going to do some more research on this anyway

A 2008 A3 RNS-E will work fine thats what i have, the newer 2010 on with the high res display don't work afaik but i'm sure someone will sort that problem out.
