Fuel fairies....
Well that explains it then
I did a long journey the other days - seem to recall it having 60miles left when I parked up.
A few days later having not driven it, decide to offer my father in law a lift - start her up and tank is empty with 0 miles on the range, I jumped out the car, had a quick chek underneath... no leaks !. Figured I drive it for a short while, to see if it goes up... No just read -- miles. So I have minor panic trying to work out closest v bastard or Tesco 99 route - complete opposite directions for his lift and added 20mins onto the journey. I felt a reet chump!
My question is - where did the 60 miles go. I've noticed a few times now... Frst time I was convinced tank door wasn't locking and some pikie had helped himself. Was impressed he know these had a 82litre tank - and only got away with the scraps...
Anyway - I now factor in that a quarter of tank isn't a quarter if tank when you park her up. I reckon I must get 0mpg from a cold startup - only explanation - or I have fuel fairies....
mpg on way to work
Re: mpg on way to work
The gauge is horribly non linear - it goes down much quicker when you get towards empty. Or it would if the damping electronics would let the needle go down fast enough. When you turn the car off and leave it, the needle comes up to the true level.
Just my pet theory, I don't have any evidence to back it up.

Hi Shoppinit, ive heard some time ago you had plans to recalibrate the gauge or something...
If you can't go to the track, bring the track to you.

Safest way is to fill up when it hits 1/4 full...you also get the pleasure of not seeing the pump hit £100+
