Ha Ha Ha nice one.
As much as i love the sound of the amg engine ( :FIREdevil: ) i really can't take to the look of your motor steve. Guessing thats why i have an rs6 and not one of them or it could be cause you are ''considerably richer than me''. How many people actually notice your car before it is started up? Guessing not many, which in some ways in a really good thing cause i hate people stopping and looking at me while i'm driving round (i know it's not my beautiful chizzeled face cause the windows are up  )
Glad this motor has been reliable for you but where's the bloody fun in that?
I have just joined a merc forum and got a beggining of the month special offer, i suck no sausage but all members have to take a head bob on mine, joined under a different name to see if i get the same luck and dunc wins!!!!! :jump:
Now, bam, can't you do a quick photoshop of the taxi and make it a better colour?
Good luck with the merc steve and still post on here cause it has been a laugh, no pic's but just sound bites from now on.

dunc
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

No doubt that the OP was inflammatory and a clear fcuk you to the RS6 owners that have been here to help you out when you needed it. Not that we've seen much of you with your 54 posts.

I've got nothing against the mercs. They are brutal. The newer E63 is interesting looking IMO.

Just risked getting rim raped and here a few choice quotes after 30 seconds of surfing:
TO dealer today. Best 0-60 time was 6.3 seconds. (!). They are going to call tech support to figure out what to do. Apparently I gotta "lemon". Pity. Buy a dream car and have it be outperformed by an E 550. This really bums me out.
Its always in the shop. 4 times this year in 5000 miles.

It costs a fortune to fix.

Leaks fuel every time you turn around.

Other than that it runs like greased lightning when its running.

Maybe another MB AMG does better. The CLK, S or SL.
This were expensive cars when new. And with depreciation they can be purchased for very little in respect to their original MSRP.

But keep in mind that even though the current purchase price has gone way down, the cost of operating has remained the same. They were expensive cars to own and maintain back then and they still are today.

If you know that going in, then you should be fine. Look for a dealer CPO'd car with extended warranty. A later model is always better. The early ones had teething issues.

1) IC pump (easy fix)
2) airmatic leaks/failures (expensive fix)
3) CPS failure (easy fix)
4) fuel senders (easy fix)
5) lower control arm bushings (easy but pricey)

Lot of little niggling electronic and sensor type issues but no different than BMW or Audi.
Gosh, that all sounds familiar.

To figure out which car is better, of course. The real question is: why bring a Merc on a Audi forum? What next, a Skoda?

Just saying.

Know it was said in jest but in the latest manufacturer results for reliability put skoda 12th, Audi 24th......... Oh and merc at 27th sitting between seat and vauxhall with a 34% failure rate. Merc also scored 2 out of the worst 3 cars for reliability with the cl an sl models..... It's not just us then

Not really a Merc though, it's an AMG in my book.

And an RS6 isn't an Audi, it's made by Quattro Gmbh. Hence the WUA on the VIN rather than WAU.

Good question, would it have a Porsche VIN?

No because it was still manufactured by Quattro using Audi and Porsche parts.

Like the RS6 was manufactured by quattro using Audi parts and cosworth engines.

Just found an e class I really quite like, it has also just knocked the Mazda Bongo Wagon off the top spot as my favourite car name

Although I would have to loose the rear wheel "covers"
