I think the reason for the price is revealed in the 'piggy bank' thread. It seems to have been involved in a small fire...... :bigblink:

The reason for the price is the owner was sadly killed in a bike crash . The car was not damaged in the fire and drove back to the Uk .

I have during past 6 months built a RS8. Its an S8, with engine from RS6. During the conversion, I knew it was a big chanse I wanted more power in the near future. This is why I kept the 6-speed manual from the S8. The conversion has been very difficult, and the electrical problems is definetly most demanding. It is not easy to tell the management system from RS6, to "speak" with the manual gearbox.

Went to view it 2 weeks ago, outstanding car, awesome performace one very well cared for car. the interior was like brand new! only thing that swung it for me was the manual gearbox on the car i did purchase, faniced something a litle different, otherwise had the one i brought not came up for sale this would have definatley been sitting in my garage now  I would have begged stole and borrowed.

Folks,

I have been looking into converting mine to a manual after reading a thread on RS6.com.

You can buy a kit from audis4part.com that converts an allroad tip to manual, $2300, or buy a a6 quattro v engined for £1500-£2000.
Then you need a custom starter motor, flywheel and clutch, circa £2000.
Labour again circa £2000.

This strikes me as a viable alternative to £5500 to replace the autobox.

However in the interestes of research I am open to people pointing out any flaws in my plan.

Cheers
