Montego's? Citroen AX? A Volvo? Thats a collection to be proud of
Actually, you could chart the highs and lows of my career through the sequence of cars!! But don't knock the V70R's - after all, it's what the cops use, and it won the touring cars in its heyday!

At 17 I had a 1990 VW Polo Fox Coupe in Green !

I then worked for VWG UK, and bagged an Audi A2 1.4Tdi which could get 70mpg ! This started my thirst for Audi's although I never quite hit those MPG heights !

Once I finished UNI I got this :

After working for 2 years I got this :

Image

Then after qualifying (accountant) I got this

Image

Then I got wanted to get into a cabriolet for a summer trip to Greece, so randomly went to this: (for 2 weeks anyway !)

Image

And after selling the Saloon for a profit, it helped pay for this:

Not too shabby for a 25yr old

Next up is an RS 4 avant . . . just waiting for depreciation - its a love hate relationship

David, how on earth did you afford an Audi when leaving University??? or did you bag a student loan?? I'm clearly jealous!

My journey:

Whilst at University:
C Reg Renault 5 (bought for £500, sold for £500)
F Reg Rover 213 (Nice eh!) Cost me practically nothing (needless to say), Cambelt went twice and killed it.
J Reg Citroen ZX Aura (even had electric windows!!!!) Needless to say the sunroof leaked.

Graduated; first company cars...
V Reg Vauxhall Corsa (grand total of 3 cylinders), which I had for 6 weeks, then they gave me a
T Reg Vauxhall Astra. Loved the car, big step up to a 1.4 litre and even had air-con and 4 cylinders!!!!

After a year of the astra reached the dizzy heights of car allowance and most importantly COMPANY FUEL CARD, inclusive of all private fuel (which I still have)
52 Plate TT - 225coupe, Dark Blue. owned for 2 years, lost only 6k in depreciation.
54 Plate TT - 225 coupe, Bright Red. owned for 10 months, put 28,000 miles on it and sold it for only £500 depreciation

When driving up the M5, a black jag XJR flew past me and the thought hit me... why am I in my 20's driving a bright red car that stands out, I need a stealth black old mans car that blends in. How much do RS6's sell for now? (in 2005 that is)

Then I shopped around and there were 3 RS6 saloons for sale in the country (staffordshire, Manchester & aberdeen) so off I went to the North West and I bought the beast there and then within 10 minutes of arrival, without even test driving it... 450bhp RS6 Saloon, in stealth black. Truly Raided the car savings account and went for it... What a monster! What a difference to the TT. God it was quick, it put a smile on my face every time I drove it for 3 years of ownership (put a frown on our company fuel card account, I spent about £7k in fuel in first year, £6k second and £5k third, so £18,0000 of fuel, which is about the same cost of a used TT).

I finally decided that I should sell the beast and end on a high; two of my mates had lost their licence and been banned for a year each. I'd managed three years of RS6 ownership without a point. Hardest decision was what to replace the RS6 with... Plus I got married and was now 30 so I needed a sensible family diesel...

So in 2008 in the bargain credit crunch I bought my current vehicle a 635d, what a car! is truly best of both worlds; I love the looks (yes its a marmite car), it shifts, but its not as ridiculous fast as the RS6, has monster levels of torque, huuuggee boot; fits 4 adults; the tech inside is much more up to date; and I can drive to devon and back 600 miles on one tank of fuel. A great bit of kit and one that I will certainly own for a good few years.
Present:...
Lotus Evora GT410 Sport, Caterham 420R, CCM Spitfire, VW T2 Bay Window 1976

Past:
DB11 AMR, 992, 991.2, Yamaha MT01, 640d Gran Coupe, 635d Coupe, RS6 C5, Audi TT 225 Coupe, Astra with wind up windows, Citroen ZX, Rover 213, yes behold, a Rover 213... Renault 5
