Its not a big secret Shoppinit, I just think that no-one has sat and worked out the cost - The chap who's car it is I don't think gets much time to post on the site. I can ask him next time I see him and will put up a post.Shoppinit wrote:Why is the cost of the lpg conversion such a big secret?
RS6 ON L.P.G FINISHED

RE: Re: RE: Nice Modification
The cost is 2.5k -3k , there I'd a lot of work to remove and replace the battery . The air box needs work to fit over the gas injection injectors .

Assuming the fuel consumption is about the same for the LPG (@50p/litre) and petrol (@£1.00/litre) which some of the posts above seem to imply, at 20MPG you will save: 4.5 (Ltrs/gallon) x 50p (price difference) x 70% (LPG/petrol mix) = £1.57 every 20 miles.
So to save £2.5-3K you will need to drive 32,000 to 38,000 miles (assuming you can get the LPG for all the journeys).
I haven't allowed for any other costs (eg does it increase service or insurance costs?), cost of investment, nor allowed for any impact on capital value.
In round terms I suspect that it would be safe to say 50,000 miles for payback

Sounds like a fair estimate. Only thing I would add is that fuel consumption with LPG is about 30% higher than with petrol.

I recall that he also gets a bit of a discount on road tax. lol about £10 a year or something silly for it being greener.Daveperc wrote:Assuming the fuel consumption is about the same for the LPG (@50p/litre) and petrol (@£1.00/litre) which some of the posts above seem to imply, at 20MPG you will save: 4.5 (Ltrs/gallon) x 50p (price difference) x 70% (LPG/petrol mix) = £1.57 every 20 miles.

Possibly no congestion charge, too?

Hold on, all this is assuming that you don't suffer any power loss which I'm not convinced of. I'd like to see some dyno plots. Just out of interest, of course. I'm not interested in an LPG conversion.

The online calculator doesn't cater for cars which switch between the fuels - just works off the difference in price as far as I can tell.
Can't comment on the power myself - but the Grizzmeister says there's no change in an earlier post, and I can't imagine why he would want to kid us!! He'll hardly want a flock of disatisfied customers if he did!!
