I found something that can keep up!!!
A TVR Tuscan S has just made way for my RS6 and to be fair its very deceptive with the TVR's. They are so light and loud it feels like you are going twice as fast as you really are! Admittedly they are very fast and I reckon when the RS6 was standard the TVR (in perfect weather and road conditions of course) would have beaten it! BUT I have just got my RS back from Grizz with a Milltek and a remap and it is now such a different beast! Cant believe the difference! Had 2 Imprezas and an MR360 Evo with ease so far..............may even go out supercar hunting now for a bit actually!!!

i think its fair to say that on a straight our cars will defo give an excellent account of themselves regardless of what the opposition encountered maybe - however, we may get beat on the bends etc. but what can transport you around 4 up boot full with the pace and security of an RS nothing really

I would disagree about the seems faster than it is point. My 4.5 Cerbie used to surprise me when I looked at the speedo, while blowing past Lambo's at silly speeds++. Was very stable and composed. I never had any trouble embarrassing ANYTHING on wheels in that car on a straight. 0-100mph was 8.9 secs or something, top speed in owners manual book said 190mph+ But yeah, 2+2 and fiberglass, scary in the wet...
It may have been only my TVR but that car just felt like 1000 nuts and bolts flying in close proximity at anything over 100mph!!! Don't get me wrong it was wicked fast and was exciting ever time the weather was nice enough to use it(I think the Tuscan S has similar stats to the 4.5 Cerb) but the drama did get tiresome though!
"ANYTHING"? Not convinced by that either Im afraid - The exotica you mention is usually piloted by weekend warriors who aint got a clue, Im guessing you never came across an Ultima then?

..going back a few years now, circa 2001 when I had it. I am not saying it is the fastest car in the world, just that it was pretty close to it! Nothing I came up against managed to get the better of the monster. It had their own 420bhp V8 so that might be why it was quieter? Who knows..., but don't think I ever came across any Ultimas...

I had my first "proper" play the other night with an E55 AMG Merc! Couldn't believe how easy it was to be honest! 4 sets of lights, 1 round about, a dual carriageway and a motorway! Destroyed him on them all! When we pulled up at the last set of lights he was complaining that his wheels were spinning too much, thats why Id beaten him! Like I said to him, whats the point in having the power if you cant use it! He wasnt too happy! Checked the stats for them when I got in - Lighter than the 6 by about 50kgs and about 480bhp!!! Thank god for the full exhaust and remap is all I can say!!!

I found somethoing that couldnt keep up yesterday.... a porsche coxster or caymen as it is properly called. nowhere near it. destroyed in every discerplin! But the driver was cool enpugh, gave me a big thumbs up,wound down his window and shouted well done at a roundabout. Tell you what tho, it was quick enough, reckon a standard RS6 would just pip it, but on handling it would die a nasty death.
It's all Bollox.

Although grip levels are excellent, I personally think that the RS6 isn't that good off the line actually. The Auto Box prevents you from getting a great start and it can bog down.
On the topic of races, as discussed in a previous post, I have had Bentley's, Porsches and Evos etc with little concern, but something tried it on with me on the motorway the other day and although I did pull away from it, it wasn't a total annihalation as expected - a new shape Golf 2.0 TDI. It must have been tuned or something as it had a lot of torque and it went very well. Quicker than R32s that I have had.
p.s. I am not joking.

I went to Santa Pod (other thread) and annialated a Porsche Boxster S (300bhp).
I agree about the auto box - was going to attempt a launch control (gearbox under warranty so thought 1 go wouldnt be too bad) but it rained.
Suprised about the 2.0tdi, although it was prob DSG which will make it quicker.

A mate of my Uncle has his Audi A4 2.0TDI Revo'd and it is by all accounts monumentally fast. I myself had a Golf Mk4 estate (TDI 130 PD) which I bought with the intention of having that Revo'd, but I was so happy with the standard power (and especially the torque), I never bothered. I managed to embarrass quite a few quick cars with that car even in standard tune - I can only imagine how fast it would have been with the remap. So I can well believe what you say about that Golf - that diesel engine, remapped, in a lightish car should give a very good account of itself.NumberoftheBeast wrote:Although grip levels are excellent, I personally think that the RS6 isn't that good off the line actually. I've had a few encounters with it around my way and each time, I have shown it who's boss, but just not as much as I would have done with other motors (mad that it's a Diesel!)
My friend has an Ibiza Cupra Diesel (1.9) which he has had remapped. I have driven it and it's seriously quick. It has a tad over 200bhp but around double that in torque.

On Top Gear they make out that RWD is better in a standing start foot to floor because all the weight shifts onto the back wheels. In a 4WD car you start to lose traction on the front wheels apparently. I can't say as I've ever noticed that though.davidkoulakis wrote:its all about the 4 wheels drive. From a standing start 2wheel drive cars will lose too much time getting traction on those sorts of duels. If you tried a rolling start it might be different ?
yeah guess it would depend on conditions, i.e. if dry and tryes are warm maybe, but given we live in the UK, I recon in real world (i.e. rain and cold) 4 wheel drive will get away quickerandyt wrote:On Top Gear they make out that RWD is better in a standing start foot to floor because all the weight shifts onto the back wheels.
