Update:
Concensus was the slightly narrower bore of the Pirtek fitting was not an issue, so my nephew refitted it. Unfortunatley the coulping was not compatible and would not tighten up, resulting in oil poring out.
Ordered OEM equivalent from RS car parts (now back in stock) however their new flexi pipe coupling was flat (ORFS fitting) compared to original cone (JIC fitting) and bore was even narrower than Pirtek fitting, so I wasn't too keen (although RScarparts assure me it is compatible and they have sold hundreds of them)
Ricci at Pirtek Watford then offered to cut and weld a new fitting and flexihose to my old uncorroded fitting, which was then painted and fitted. Perfect job. No leaks.
Ricci really did a great job, and I would highly recommend this as a solution.
Thanks also to Steve2003RS6, who sent me his old oil cooler, which will be refurbished once we can get the old pipes off!
Please identify these rusty pipes.....

Why do hydraulic fittings always have to be such a faff?
