Just hate paying my road tax. Wouldn’t mind a increase if it meant that we got some decent roads to drive on.
But as usual our payments will go towards everything except our roads.
Don’t get me started on pot holes.

Re: New owner
Mate I totally agree with you. My daily is a b8 A4 S line diesel. Nothing special but it shares the same tyres size as the RS. It’s picked up loads of knocks on the wheels from potholes driving in and out of Birmingham for work. Need to get them refurbed as it’s bugging me loads.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 7:41 pmJust hate paying my road tax. Yes tell me about it. I am on my 3rd set of alloys.
And last year replaced the suspension.
Drivers behind me must think I am totally pi?sed.
From the erratic steering trying to dodge potholes.

Re: New owner
Progress report:
- 3 of the 4 tyres have arrived. The other is 'in the system' somewhere
- ordered filters and fluids, Allroad wiper arms and wiper blades. Hopefully will arrive soon.
Is there a way of checking TPMS battery without driving the car?
Edit: Car does have BOSE, or at least there is a BOSE sub in the RH side of the boot. Missing first aid kit though. I like my cars to be complete, so I'll trawl Ebay this evening.

Re: New owner
TPMS should pop up in the centre of the cluster for low pressures. Will be yellow for slightly low or red for very low. It will also stay flashing red if there are any failures or if they have been removed. Of course they may have been removed and coded out etc....
Some here have never known the cars came with them so I guess it's common for them to be removed and coded out of the system.

Re: New owner
So was TPMS a standard fit on the C5? I still have original wheels but not sure as ive never had any warnings etc, suppose it could have been coded out

Re: New owner
My colleague put his VW box of tricks onto the car and got a list of error codes. He's not too worried about any of them, and things most can be cleared once belts done. Most are probably related to the dead battery and the fact it was running on old fuel for a very short period of time.
Engine
- 000370 - bank 1 system too rich
- 001378 - system voltage too low
- 17535 - fuel trim bank 1 too rich
- 18010 terminal 30 voltage to low
Brakes
01119 Gear recognition signal
Airbag
00532 battery voltage
Dash
01325 TPM control module J502
First batch of parts have arrived from CarParts4Less, and the fourth tyre has decided to make an appearance.

Re: New owner
Clear them all and see what comes back.
TPMS is standard on RS6. You can check battery life with the Vagcom.
First aid kit is in the rear armrest IIRC.

That's what Tony my tame VAGman says. Clear them and see which return.
Armrest is empty.

Re: New owner
Car's now on axle stands and I've taken the wheels to local friendly tyre Shop and had tyres removed. I have a tyre machine in our workshop, but low profile tyres are a b*tch to get off, and I don't use it often enough to develop the knack. Conventional 60-70-80 profile tyres no problems. Wheel reconditoning people on standby and hopefully collecting the wheels next week to refurb, and to also do a spare set of Clio RS200 wheels for my wife.
Next I would like to remove each brake disc in turn, clean and examine and reassemble. There is some life left in these discs and pads. I'm going to give each corner a good clean whilst I'm in there.
Annoyingly I have spotted a broken coil spring (front RH), and there was something damp near RH rear suspension, but not investivated it yet. Wheelarches were caked in mud so knocked most of that off.
Old private plates sawn off with thin string. Old sticky pads removed and new plates fitted. At least a couple of things ticked off my job list.
I think it will be useful to source access to Elsawin or similar.
Original RS6 brochure arrived this morning as well
