DIY Solutions
Re: DIY Solutions
Fingers xx'd the CTEK jobbies works as well as it looks.
I still don't have a CTEK charger. Is the MXS 5.0 on the one to get?
Annoys me that a "simple" battery charger is still over 50 quid...ho hum...

Re: DIY Solutions
For some reason I was talked into getting the MXS 10 which is a bit of overkill in hindsight.
I'm sure the MXS 5.0 is more than capable for the job.

Re: DIY Solutions
I've got the MXS 5.0. Very happy with it and is taking care of my needs.

Re: DIY Solutions
Make sure you get the one that can do the battery revival.
/that the one with a "Recond" option. MXS5.0 does it by the look of it. Looks like they've reduced their range somewhat.
//I absolutely hate CTEK's site.

Re: DIY Solutions
I've had a MXS10 for ages. possibly an overkill for small batteries but for the larger batteries it's good. The battery sense on your phone is OK if you have apple or android. Seeing as I don't, it's a non starter for me. Second the recon charge function, highly useful.

Re: DIY Solutions
Cheers, a good place to start. Sort of thing that is probably not a big issue if driven daily. This will happen soon.

3310? Noice. Not as good as my 8210 with Budweiser case mod though. :-p

Yeah, I had one of them too. Both good. Can't remember which one(s) had the FM radio though?

I think there were some. Just not those 2. Maybe the 3330?
At least, my addled memory tells me that. Could be wrong.

Re: DIY Solutions
I WAS a Nokia person and ended up with a 1020 and then a 930? made by Nokia with Win OS. Last one was a 950 made by MS, not the same quality as Nokia but lots of software updates despite being out of production. MS recently even updated the Nokia 930 to Win 10 too. Despite being old(er) they still function well except that apps are not a strong suite. I figure if you run a very non mainstream car then there is no harm in having a queer phone.

Re: DIY Solutions
Well. The good news is it works.
And I need to charge the landrover battery (although even @ 29%, it's enough to start it).
The bad news is range isn't great. Through the LR door and then the garage door - range ends up at about 10-12 feet. A little more if I'm standing outside (maybe 15 feet)
Still handy since I don't have to unlock or get into the thing to check it - but I can't check the battery from indoors, even by the nearest window. Google tells me there is no wifi or 4G battery monitor that exists - but I wonder if a bluetooth range extender could help?
