Did this happen?rickster147 wrote:Hi will be getting some drag times next month at York
After stage 2 remap at MRC
Was just wandering if people can post there times down on here
And with what mods they have
Am curious of what time to expect I'm guessing about 13.5 quarter at 125mph
Also do you have a good tip with getting off the line fast with the auto box?

Re: Quarter mile times
Results from pod was
First run 13.4 with traction control on and in sport mode
Second run 13.6 in drive mode with traction control on
Third run 13.5 in sport mode with traction off
And 13.4 in sport with traction off
So really there's nothing in the sport and manual mode also tc didn't make a difference either

Re: Quarter mile times
You got slips?
D and S are the same if you've got your foot pinned. TC is not likely to matter on the Sticky Pod. Did you try loading the revs (aka duckfoot method)?

No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Quarter mile times
What were the trap speeds? Temperature? Post up the slips.
Re: Quarter mile times
The video has 105mph as the trap speed. So about 1 sec off and 5-7mph slower than expected however, having spoke to many (inc MRC) that went down the strip at Shakespeare Raceway a few weeks ago they general consensus was that road tyres don't do well on proper drag strips and MRC in particular were fighting wheel-spin in 4th in their R8 which they don't have to do on a road.
Did it feel like it was spinning much getting off the line?

Re: Quarter mile times
We drive Audis with quattro. Almost everyone runs street tires on Audis at the strip. Further you're benchmarking against other RS6 or whatever you want not the big tyre drag cars.IanH755 wrote:The video has 105mph as the trap speed. If you're trapping 105 the et of mid 13s is bang on. He's not spinning badly or anything. Likely bogging from TOO MUCH traction, but not spinning. From there the weather will have hampered him. Heat = slow.
My RS4 spins the tires a little and takes off.
Here's a run with a gopro on board. You can hear a little spin and it's off.
I went 12.53 @110.5 (B7 RS4 stock map, JHM exhaust with cats) . Other car was a new 560 hp AWD E63 S and he went 11.8. He sure caught me.

Re: Quarter mile times
I'm benchmarking against my RS6 on a "non-prepared" dragstrip (airfield concrete & normal road tarmac) with the same 1/4 time and speed as yours against his time on a real "prepared" drag-strip used for competitions and trying to explain to him why he's slower on the prepared drag strip than he would be on the non-prepared normal road surface.
Over here for whatever reason our strips are notoriously slippy for road cars and most will wheel spin at the line (even 4WD) due to the slippiness of the track rather than bog down due to too much grip. I don't know why ours are so slippy (the reverse of what you'd expect) but it's a fact, normal cars struggle to get grip on UK drag strips and only cars with proper drag radials can get the grip you would expect off the line.
It was something I noticed during my Skyline ownership - Australian R34's with the same/similar power as ours were routinely faster on the 1/4 mile. We only have 2 "proper" strips so maybe they are doing something differently to make the track seem more slippy to road cars, I don't know.

Re: Quarter mile times
I don't see it. I see you guys putting the exact same 60' times as us. No different
There's always people who do well, people who do ok, and people who struggle. Here or there. Prepped or not. Hot or cold.
I look at the B7 RS4 times personally. Maybe this phenomenon you're describing is more of an issue with the RS6. Not sure why though.

Re: Quarter mile times
13.5? I was banging in 12.7 after 12.7 in my C5 RS 6 (105ishIIRC), was boiling hot, too.
C6 did 11.5-7 @ 124, reckon it'll do better with the map tweak, it's so much quicker now.

Re: Quarter mile times
Interesting. Why has no one mooted drag strips as a benchmarking method for car performance?
