nice motor though theres one like that near me ( down saaaaf ) and I always stop and have a gawp

Welcome - hope you love the car! Mine is the same paint colour and also in Scotland (but only just).

I would stay clear of the Continentals - I felt they and the Pirellis were downright dangerous on the RS6 - really not impressed with them.

Like many I would go for Goodyear Eagle Assymetrics or Michelin PS2s. The Goodyears are excellent value and last well. I bought my car on Pirellis, put Continentals on as my company car B7 Avant had them on, but hated them, and tried my best to destroy them quickly to get some better tyres. On my second set of Goodyears and cannot recommend them enough, particularly as they won't cost significantly more than the Contis.

Good advice there.^^^^^

I ran P Zeros on my S6 a few years ago; they were ok until about 3mm tread depth and then all grip just fell of a cliff, loads left on them and no where near the wear bars, got rid and replaced with Sport Maxxes.

Same bad news on the Conti's on my RS6; a 1 Series Beemer left me floundering on a soaking wet M6 last winter as I just couldn't trust the front end above 50 mph, aquaplaning all over the place! Binned them asap and went for the GY Assy 2's, the difference is night & day especially wet grip, you can trust them to allow a quattro to perform how a quattro should :kissmyrings:

The cueball and Special K C5 - who did you use to refurbish your wheels? I am thinking of trying Diamomd Wheels in Dundee.

Special K - who did you use to detail your car? I was thinking of using Incredible Detail in Glasgow for mine, based on an internet search.

Mine had a lot of work done on it by Audi Technik in Glasgow, including cambelt, Bilsteins, gearbox service and other bits and pieces. Going back to them at the weekend to get my ride height raised.
Take your car to http://www.pristinemachine.co.uk wouldn't take mine anywhere else, prices in glasgow etc are crazy, there is a Facebook page also, both the rs and my type r are on the Facebook page and the rs is also on website. Think there are pics on here somewhere from when GAZ-MAN owned it previous to me along with pics of his rs4 he has now just after being detailed.

Cueball I couldn't fault mackies they were superb.

Just back from a 200 mile drive - I love the car. Such a great all round machine.

I got the ride height of the Bilstein PSS9s raised today by Audi Technik in Glasgow, who fitted them for the previous owner in December. The car looked great before, but it was a bit impractical as the wheels would run if anyone would sit in the back.

I have been buying lots of bits and pieces too, like Michelin PS2s, a load cover, dog guard, RS6 mats, hard back brochure (thanks barrybudden!) and a 2004 price list.

I've also replaced the air duct and got the car checked for the oil leak picked up in the RAC service. The good news is it was just residue from before - the seals were all changed in December. Good news!

The car is booked into Defined Details in Glasgow in June to get the paint and the interior done, and I'll get the wheels refurbished and the Michelin PS2s fitted at that time. I've seen some of the pics of Gordon's previous work, which looks excellent, and I'm excited to see how my car turns out.

Here are a couple of before and after shots after getting the ride height raised. Looked good before, but I couldn't carry anyone in the back without the wheels rubbing.

Hmm, somewhere between the 2 might have been better. That looks higher than stock.

/although your camera appears to have come out of a Christmas cracker and is deforming the pic, so maybe that's what's giving me that impression.

Yeah, I was messing about with photobucket on my iphone which seems to be squashing the car somewhat. It looks right in the flesh.

You mean you don't get your face painted every week? Shame on you!

Cheers, I checked the tyre types on the list and think I am ok.

Really looking forward to getting it detailed.

Here it is at the weekend beside a slower car.
