Ok Dave, why does the C5 mean so much to you?
Basically because it's the best car I've ever owned! I bought the first one when they were still 50% of their new value, and gently nursed it into great shape before the "drowning" episode! The second one built on all that I had leaned, and though I never got round to doing the timed runs, was I suspect one of the quickest off the mark - the 880Nm torque figure was addictive, and was delivered effortlessly around 3000 rpm - she was a real bruiser!

I am really torn at the moment - I agree with Footers that the C5 is showing its age (as am I it seems!!), BUT, can I look myself in the eye in the morning if I'm coming downstairs to a "mere" S4 - albeit that with a bit of MRC magic it will probably be as quick?

And before Amar chirps up with more C6 stories - no, that's beyond the budget constraints!

So there you go Bam, Dave's a poor old ........

Of course - what I really want is my old Beast back....

Dave

I'm Actually putting up CCTV this weekend because of this, unfortunately my garage had to be racked out to store all my tools, so the car is left outside. Otherwise I'd be the same as you doc, although my dog would prob lick them to death rather than sink some teeth into their nuts!

I know what you mean about the dogs and although mine look mean and could arguably rip your limbs off..one whiff of a packet of pickled onion monster munch and they are putty. .in all seriousness cctv is nowadays essential. .too many fly by nights and opportunists who case joints and owners movements. .

It was stolen from outside a mate's house - and they have a dog - sadly he is as deaf as a post so happily slept through the whole episode. If it had been at home it would still be here!

Are you or your friend aware of any street cameras nearby that could have picked up the car or better still its occupants? Gutted for you dave.

I have a CCTV kit sitting here too after chavs went around all 3 cars here trying all the doors recently and stole a satnav out of housemate's car. You could see the marks on my cars where they had slid along the sides between the cars and marks all around the handles, fcukers. I felt violated and not in a good way!

I will either be bringing current Rottie with me to our new place or leaving him with my folks and getting the biggest one I can possibly get from a top breeder and will get either an American Bulldog or a Rhodesian Ridgeback too for good measure. Never had a hint of anything like this in all my years with dogs in the house. Would have dogs here now if housemate wasn't allergic to life....

I had a catalytic converter nicked off my motorhome on the drive a few weeks back. Considered CCTV after the event but figure, what is the point? It is no deterrent and unless it gets clear as day images of thieves in the act probably won't lead to a prosecution. Even if it does, it won't get the car back. I put it down as an avoidable expense...

Your glass need not be half empty...

Of course it needs to be strategically placed but then I`d expect that to be the case and even if it isnt crystal clear, it may be clear enough for the face to be recognised, it may lead to prosecution and it may lead to getting your undamaged car recovered.

There a lots of avoidable expenses including the amount of petrol this thing drinks but i`d much rather sleep in the knowledge that even if someone attemps something, that they are being watched doing it.

I see the only benefit of CCTV being that if I could identify the thief I would break the fuckers kneecaps
