Got warning lights again yesterday.
It happened right after getting some fuel in (ron98).
After ignition on, i got from memory (they changed rapidly so dont know them all, in random order):

Tyre pressure
Engine oil
Engine oil pressure (i think)
Coolant
Wiper fluid
Some kind of volt image, never seen before
Some kind of brake warning
Battery
Maybe i even missed some...

And at last, the "OK" , which i have never seen working on my 6

Next start only service reminder, which i still have to reset.

Well, after not driven the RS for prob 6+ months, started the RS this morning, not able to do the fuse method because of lack of space.
Took about 20+ minutes at idle before the ticking noise was gone, almost thought it would stay :bash:
Not fun hearing parts are missing oil...
Promised myself to have the fuse method installed or just start/drive the bloody RS much more often :beerchug:

Plugged in the bluetooth obd reader and noticed in a obd android app, the timing showed about +12 degrees, fluctuating between 10 and 15 or so.
Is that normal?

With the kindest regards.

Sorry, cant remember. Will check next time.
My tyres seem to have flat spots, even after 30+ km or so 😢
They were at 3 bar.

30km won’t be enough probably. They might sort themselves out after 50 or 60 at motorway speeds. What tyres are they?

Tyres, that doesnt help😫 they are Kumho Ecsta SPT 275/30/19🥱
And i still have to get the RS alligned after installing the Konis.

Thinking about the tyres, they might have been disformed (cupped?) because of a very very bad drc system prior to the Konis...

Lots of tyres deform when left standing for long periods. I’ve never had it with Michelin tyres, funnily enough.

You should at least try to move your car a bit occasionally even if it’s only a foot or so to avoid flat spots. You can get tyre cushions, too. Storing at higher pressures can help too. 3 bar is my normal running pressure. I’d store at 4.

Different thing. Engine idling at 900-1100 rpm pumps substantially more oil than cranking on the starter motor would. Winding it on the starter motor is to just get a bit of pressure in the adjusters to avoid the rattle on startup.

The ticking happens when you’ve left the motor for months and a lifter (the one that was sitting under max pressure with an open valve on it) has bled down and is now sitting at rock bottom. Sometimes it needs a bit of temperature (in the oil) and cyclical loads to get it to release and pump up. So sitting idling isn’t the ideal answer - but just going for a drive is.

Mine sometimes does this after sitting for the winter too.
It’s also not metal grinding on metal, it just means your valve clearances on that cylinder are excessive until you get that lifter pumped up again.

You can get it to pump up by revving it on your driveway, but it takes longer - because you want the oil to be nice and warm. Which happens quickest by going for a drive.

Subsequent starts that day or overnight, next week etc will be quiet as normal. Although the ideal answer is to start the engine a little more frequently if possible. Or if not, at least winding the motor over so it sits on different cam lobes.
