Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
I think the rear caliper is still sticking slightly, so I ordered a pair of new ones from www.brakeparts.co.uk for £ 98.07 per caliper. New TRW calipers.
The repleacement alarm switch for the side of the door panel has also arrived, so used a plastic trim tool to lift out the remains of the original, and the replacement snapped into place easily.

That's a good price for the calipers.
Where did you get the switch from? I've got a feeling mine is trying to fall apart.

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
Swapped over the rear calipers this morning and bled through the rear circuit. Easiest job so far. Fitted a temporary power socket to the 75X terminal but will revisit this once I've settled on a permanent location. Adjusted windscreen wiper to give a better sweep. Refitted undertray.
Took the car for a 30 mile drive. Brakes working well, not binding any longer. Ride is fine. Steering good, annoying noise coming from armrest - I think its rubbing against a seat. Airbag warning light came on for a short period, but went off and didn't come back on. Air conditioning needs attention - re-gas first.

Try raising the front seats. Can get a noise from the seatbelts on the consul if the seats are lowered all the way down. That’s what I had until I raised the seats.

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
Thanks for the tip. Will check.
Got air conditioning done today - a 30 min nitrogen test to see if it holds pressure, followed by purge and refresh of the a/c. Done in just over an hour, so a walk around the local area and a chilly drive home.

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
First day of the month, so its now taxed and can legally drive it properly - was on trade plates before.
Also the Metra head unit kit turned up from the states, so once I've decided what to do about the hi-fi system, I've got the nicer plinth ready. It came with some wire harnesses, but they're part finished and would need wiring up properly.
Armrest noise seems to have gone, will monitor it.

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
So three days in and 150 miles since weekend...
-Despite a relatively short commute of 12 miles, I'm surprised how much more comfortable I am after a journey in the RS6 compared to the Sera - the seats in that car are surprisingly narrow around the shoulder for a taller European than the Japanese people the car was designed around.
-Despite balancing the wheels, I'm getting a vibration through the steering, so need to look out for a good set of replacement wheels.
- A/C is still blowing cold. Having managed for four years driving a mobile greenhouse with faulty a/c, its a novelty.
- I need to check front parking sensors are working
- Interior mirror has developed a bubble, so have emailed MirrorJohn
- Having the rear heated seats on full has helped remove compression marks of items left on the back seat since 2014.
- My VAG colleague is off this week, so I'll get him to plug is machine in and see how many error codes remain.
- Sat Nav disc needs updating. Doesn't recognise my road and I've lived here since March 2000. I've requisitioned the bluetooth FM transmitter from my motorhome, so am streaming through that at the moment. I'm not particularly into music, but enjoy audiobooks.
- Adjusting seat has stopped armrest noise.
So pretty happy so far. Took Mother in law out for a drive and she was delighted to see and hear it back on the road again.

Great news. You have done a cracking job.
Pleased the seat adjustment fixed the armrest noise. Took me quite a while to find that remedy.

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
Do you know the result of the wheel balance. If they came up good then while new rims will be nice, it could be your suspension. I had a small vibration through the steering wheel when I bought mine and it was the DRC. I'd also rotoate front to back as well just to confirm.norwichphoto wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:12 pmSo three days in and 150 miles since weekend...

Re: New owner of 2003 RS6 C5 Saloon
The wheels with the most balance weights are on the back of the car. I may take the front ones off and put on my own balancing machine and see what the results are. Didn't do the tyres myself as my tyre machine isn't really for modern low profile wheels.
Car has new front dampers (Koni) and new Audi springs at the front. Going to find some different roads to see if its surface dependant.
