To track or not to track
Re: To track or not to track
I have also thought about a track day in the 6. Snetterton is not far away, and RAF Marham do a track day event once or twice a year, but I have never dared take the car on either. I did a couple of VMax events last year and that was more in keeping with that the RS6 does. If you have hammered across an Autobahn in the past, then there is little point, but you will also get to seem some rare and expensive cars tearing up the runway.

Re: To track or not to track
I'm not sure I'd be taking my RS6 on track (not yet anyway - I've only had it 5 minutes). If you had a set of R888's then handling would be much improved but hell knows how much they are in 19".
If you are intent on going to a track day then they can be really hit and miss for hooligans or hero's. I know it sounds silly but have you got any idea how many other people are going to be there and is it a cheapo one? Whilst its good to play with the big boys in expensive toys its surprising how many of them have cars which they'd really not crash, so never get near 100%. Similarly cheapo cars can be a huge amount of fun, indeed the most fun I've had was as a passenger in friends ex police Senator. Its a proper shed but brilliant.

Re: To track or not to track
Yeah, it's looking like it's not going to happen. It's just not worth the risk for me - I love my car too much. When I see how easily my mate's RS4 B7 keeps up with me on the roads and how *he* was being battered by Clios on this track then I probably would look a bit of a spoon. I'll go along and pax. I played with a 997 GT3 on this track recently. It was brill fun. Need to get a track car asap, but always so many other more important things to spend money on.

Re: To track or not to track
Has anybody ever seen / heard of a stripped-out & caged RS6?
Bet the weight distribution would be terrible though, once you've taken out the heavy interior. Front-heavy understeer city would be my guess!
Maybe that could be 'fixed' by diconnecting the front driveshafts and having RWD only for some 'steer from the rear' action?
I remember seeing the old Volvo Estates (850's?) tearing around on the BTC circuit. Seem to recall that they were pretty competitive as well.
Hmmm.... a project for a few year's time when I come to replace my C5 with a C6 perhaps?
