I just had my altenator go bang on me...It's not nice...got home and no more...sitting at the lights watching the voltmeter slip past 12 v and on to 10v is not good for the ticker!!Amar wrote:I got Grizz to check mine and he said all is good, so I'll leave them then. Coilpacks worth taking, not a big issue on these are they? Although I know Amanda had one go. I'm going to rely on my low mileage and European breakdown cover. I am praying my alternator goes on the weekend so I can get that out of the way, rather then on the tunnel!

Re: Possible Issue
missfire/hestitation is definately still there, going to try Vagcom on it again tonight
always at the top of the rpm band, and its not gear dependant, but doesnt seem to do it in 2nd (not tried in 1st) fuel system has been flushed through with a tank of otimax.
its not on initial full load, its more around 5-6k mark.

Re: Possible Issue
might need some help with this then as i've rarely used it for anything other than finding fault codes.
i presume i go into diagnostics? i've done that before and can set channels to monitor i.e rpm, lambda's etc etc,
is there a option to log this then when driving?

Re: Possible Issue
That's the one. Log groups 002, 003 and 115. Do some full throttle runs and post up the excel file that contains where the car is hesitating.

Re: Possible Issue
One of my could packs went last month, and it caused the CEL to flash a bit and then go out. The VAGcom identified a misfire to know what one was playing up.Daveperc wrote:My coil packs all started to fail at about 130K miles (8 years). I had three go in the course of a month, so then had all the rest changed at one go.

Re: Possible Issue
Isn't flat out in fifth about 186mph? Are you sure that's not a reflection the flashing blue lights rapidely receding?

When I say flat out, I mean bury the throttle at like 100.

I love how Ben is now the guru, so much so, people just send him VAGCOM logs directly without posting them on the forum.Ryan_Pestell wrote:shop shall i email them to you? the xml files
