I was looking for an S8 and found an RS6 more or less by accident. Didn't even really know what I was getting.

I had wanted an S8 ever since seeing Ronin and I still have a soft spot for them. Can't beat an RS6 though. Best decision I ever made buying it.

Well i went down the Audi path after missus was expecting our first and she wanted a bigger car as the 993 was getting uncomfortabe, she wanted a larger blue car with cupholders. I looked at rs4 but decided it was too small - go larger i thought and i came across a mugello blue rs6 wit three cupholders - so i bought it (after checking this forum for buying tips etc).
2 kids later i am glad i took the rs6 over the rs4 considering all of the buggie/ baggage that seems to travel with us. Loving RS6 ownership...

Well i was at an airshow in early 02 and the local Audi garage which before and after the fighters in the sky, where taking people up and down the runway in two 6's so two people in the car Audi test driver and full launches off the start all the way down the runway, from then on i was hooked but as with so many people the funds didn't stretch at the time brand new (and i was only20, could you have imagined the fella at the insurance company getting a quote) so after getting rid of my E46 M3 in 2009 for a Q7, it wasn't for me so back to the garage in April 2010 to have a look round, there she was 04 black salloon full history and only 31k on the clock and there is only 8 on the island so chicken teeth here. Sold!! No seriously SOLD! Couldn't drive it as DRC needed looking at, and changing cam belt before anyone took it out. So signed and sealed but had to wait three weeks AAAARRRGGGHHH. Never looked back yes i have had a couple of niggles but hey i don't care even if it bleeds me dry of cash it will be kept in mint condition and hey when i die i can say i've had one of the fastest saloons on the road!! I love her and the Mrs does too her quotes are the best when i hit the loud pedal " you need to tell me when your going to do that, it sends me blind" Cheers boys!!

I bought my first Audi in 1993 when they launched a 6 speed 5 cyl coupe with 230 bhp.

In 2003 the RS6 was a real Q car .. 'a wolf in sheep's clothing' .. 'understated' .. 'modest' .. 'turbine like power'

& having bought & owned a new RS6 V10, IMO the C5 is the 'best that Audi have made to date'.

Had a few Audi's before (dtm, S4...). ..but always felt they were best car they made. Seeing Nick Mason on tv receiving first UK car and of course Layer Cake finally did it. Hence Mugello blue Avant :-)

Easy answer - Because there is no other wagon that offers the same 4x4 security, roominess and power. E55/63 and M5 wagons are RWD so no go, Volvo V70R is 'only' 300bhp and is a Volvo, Subaru Legacy is also too slow, and RS4 is too small. I was actually gonna import an Evo IX GT Wagon and tune it to 400bhp, but the wife is bored of Evos (we've had two) and to be fair it's primarily her car.

For me at least, there was and still is no other choice for a super-wagon!

For me it was a compromise between losing the M3 (which I loved) to make way for a baby (which I will also love) and the need for an estate car. Always knew I would have one even three years ago. If I ever sold the M3 I knew what I needed to replace it. Nothing else like it for the money. Sure it's expensive to maintain (just paid £340 for TPS) but lets face it. Its actually a bargain for what it is capable of.
