Had similar issue with our golf. Was almost new and to keep the warranty it went for regular servicing and one dealer replaced a front shock and changed the tyre from the spare to one front wheel.grizz wrote:
They manged to carry some of the poorest quality workman ship I've seen..
Then to crown it off i found all the wheel bolts finger tight on the front after they fitted the front shocks..
Picked it up and they had scratched the rear bumper dragging the wheel out and the unmarked alloy had scrapes and scuffs all round it. After kicking up a fuss they agreed to have the bumper polished and the wheel refurbed. Took the car away and the front was knocking and when I got home I realised they hadn't tightened the top mount! Did it myself but went crazy complaining to VW about them

A week later the Brake light came on and they had routed the cable round the wrong side of the strut

Kind of why I gave up with garages and went back to looking after the cars myself. But there are good ones there and like Unit20 word of mouth will get round and business will go their way and thats good to see.
It's a shame and if you can find a decent dealer or specialist its worth going out your way. I think we've found a good VAG specialist and he's only 8 miles away which is great considering we're in the sticks!no_RS wrote:What really amazes me is that Audi UK either don't know or do know and just don't care how bad their dealer network is. The general grief, despair and disbelief that regularly appears on this and other forums is beyond belief, no wonder the independents thrive at Audi dealers expense.
Seems to be a bit grumpy at times but I can live with that if the car gets done properly. End of the day its his ability as a pro mechanic that I'm paying for not being nice and having coffee and biscuits and a nice flashy showroom.
I'd be livid. Listers in Stratford once told me that my A8 needed a new gearbox when I had it recovered to them. They wanted £4k to repair. I said no thank you, paid them £100ish for the hours diagnostic they did and had it toed to another garage 'your driveshafts popped out mate' £100 and a secondhand driveshaft later I was on the road again. Ba%^$£$. In my younger years I really fell for the 'our mechanics are specially trained' bollocks. Not any more. Then I went back and they refused to refund my £100 diagnostic charge, I refused to leave untill they did a lot of agro and they got the manager out but I eventually got my own way, then I discovered the %$%£$£%£$ broke my diagnostic plug! Plonkers, went back in again and they said sorry and said they ordered a new one and would call me when it came in, expect they didn't. Wan%$%£

I used Firstdrive outside Stoney for my last oil service was recomended to me by Coullboy on here, little outfit in the back of beyond but good guys and know a lot about Audi / VAG cars.
Have used Volkscentre also and have no complaints about them at all, would rather use any of these guys rather than some
dealer who's not interested in customers or older cars.

Things have moved on since then. 3" exhaust from turbo back no CAT or DPF and a stronger remap again. Thing is bl00dy fast now & pretty noisy. It was whisper quiet on the rollers that day, not any morewoodlum wrote:Hey Paulm,
I spoke to you at Wallace RR day a while back, your 'oilburner' 5 is looking magic some pretty impressive figures there.
I like

Problem is, I REALLY fancy an RS6. Seeing your RS6 then Dave's (chesney's) and the thought of around 600bhp with bigger turbos has got me thinking

Oh my god!!! If Paul gets an rs6 I doubt it'll end up being only 600bhp the guy is power mad LOL!woodlum wrote:Get one, get one!
I reckon with all the torque that 535d has its std rs6 quick as its lighter and RWD. I'm sure when we meet up for a 'play' there'll not be much in it plus it'll stil do 40mpg LOL
After speaking to Audi Customer Service and then a visit to Aberdeen Audi its all amicably sorted out and I got a refund for the charges made by Stirling.
Aberdeen admitted they made an error and it was a result of not checking the service bulletin that was available plus the translation from the service tech to the advisor was not clear as they had noted it as minor in the workshop but I was advised it was urgent and needed changed.
So what probably happened was that there was residue on the sump and the tech thought it was leaking. Stirling did what the bulletin said and retorqued the bolts and cleaned the sump. So going into Perth I quite correctly witnessed a bone dry sump.
Apology accepted from Aberdeen and the manager was pleasant and sincere although I'm still favouring Perth for my next service. Aberdeen said they will take this onboard and will sit down with his team and ensure simple mistakes like missing the bulletin doesn't happen in the future.
